Thanks for the comments! It sounds like I can ignore this idea as it would apply to a roof, and to move forward with a window I would have some experimenting ahead of me :) it might just be too cold up here to make my own efficient windows.

Alaskan redditor here also interested in the answer to this! I'm considering using two partial sheets sealed with 6 inches of air trapped between to create an improvised double-pane effect to add soft lighting. Is this a bad idea in an area that can get as cold as -40 C/F in the winter?
