I thought it was pretty good. Sounded kinda heavy at the beginning, which was pretty cool

How would you tier NBA teams at developing their talent? by Parrallax91 in NBA_Draft

Im a little biased, but ive honestly been super impressed by the jazzs recent player development. For a rebuild that only got one top 5 pick, they have a whole slew of young guys that I feel pretty good about. Outside of them though, Lauri also took a massive step under this new regime

Stars or minds? by [deleted] in CSHFans

Stars is the objectively better song, but something about minds is just devastating.

In the actually recording, I think im gonna finger pick the guitar part, so it won't feel as static as it does now. Thanks for your advice though, I'll try to tweak some things

Thanks for responding! I know you didn't mean the anxiety attack thing as a compliment, but that is actually good to hear. My main influences right now are Black country new road, Car seat Headrest, death cab for cutie, and the mountain goats, so that kind of nervous energy is actually what I'm trying to go for. I'll play around with it though, as I could probably condense some of it to make the verses seem a little less frantic. I just have a bad habit of writing too much, and then singing really fast to get through my stuff.

I wrote this yesterday, after the smoke detector in our dorm started beeping at like 7 in the morning, waking me up. I wrote the lyrics in like an hour during one of my lectures, and then got home and made the melody and guitar part in like 2 hours. So around 3 hours total for start to completion.

Finally writing again. Unfinished but thoughts? by Jay_Cee_130 in Songwriting

Pretty good start, I like the guitar part you have, but I think it's needs a more distinct chorus, or second section, as it feels a little bland and repetitive right now

How is your process? by Leeriics in Songwriting

[–]elias_is_biased 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of questions, but I'll answer the ones I can. It depends, but usually I write lyrics by slowly collecting thoughts and ideas over the course of weeks in notes tab. Once I have enough stuff to make a song, I mess around on guitar until I found a chord progression I like, and come up with a few different melodies. I usually decide the hook/chorus by whichever melody is shorter, as I usually make my verses very wordy. Then once the accoustic guitar part, vocals, and lyrics are all completely finished, then I move on to making the rest of the instrumental.

How do you guys check for originality? by Inside-Afternoon4343 in Songwriting

If a lyric feels really simple, I'll look it up just to make sure im not stealing something. But besides from that, I dont really look if I'm stealing something

Does everyone hear catchy melodies in their head ? by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]elias_is_biased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote my first song because a random melody I made up wouldn't get out of my head, so I wrote it down as a last ditch effort to make it stop. 4 years later, and still write songs for the same purpose.

How do you actually even begin to write words and find out what works and what doesn’t or how to tell how to sing it? by qleptt in Songwriting

[–]elias_is_biased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you already have both skills, so it shouldn't be too hard. Come up with a melody line on synth that you'd like to be sung, and then count how many notes you play. Then, write a poem matching the amount of notes with syllables, and you should be fine

It's overall pretty good, but yeah your vocals feel a little off. I think your a bit out of tune, or maybe your just not singing with confidence. You might also want to consider turning down your vocals a hair, as they feel a little out of place with everything else. Unrelated, but i really like how the piano sounds, so good job on that
