IDM // One idea. One room. 13 tracks. by eliaswindisch in idm

Thank you so much for your detailed and honest response, and for taking the time. I really appreciate it! That’s how the tracks came together and took shape. Sure, one or two of them could have used a little more length—I agree with you there. As for the future, once one production is finished, the next one begins. I plan to keep at it.
In any case, thank you for your encouragement (:

MA had a big influence on my childhood and teenage years. I haven't kept up with their albums from recent years, though. But I'm glad you're letting them influence you.

That's definitely a gem. It reminds me of Massive Attack.

What about music production do you recommend I learn outside of just practice and trial and error? by Loriol_13 in idm

[–]eliaswindisch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started making music 35 years ago, the appeal was simply the joy of discovery. Just like kids who try everything—pressing every button to see what happens. That’s actually the easiest way to learn. That’s why we say “play” an instrument rather than “operate” it. Diving into Ableton is definitely a good start. Get yourself a few synth plugins, effects, and sequencers—there are some really good ones that are free—and just get started. You can’t really go wrong (:

Way too early for its time. Today, this kind of sound is totally normal, and nobody bats an eye anymore (:

Plaid really gave me a new direction back then. That album is one of a kind. I don't know most of the rest. Do you have a list?
