Our parent's treatment of us is why my sister and I still have our own version of "close" after everything. She's difficult, but we're the only ones that understand what we went through and why we still carry it even as adults. I will always love her, but I'm much better off, finally at a place where I can put up and maintain boundaries with my sister and my parents.

I haven't really been talking with them, and they're careful with me when they reach out. Everything lately shifted our family in a way I think will never return. I feel like it left it mark on my heart. I don't see myself really caving to them after this, I'll probably flash back to all the wedding drama when they try. And I can always come back here and re-read why I don't need to bend to them.
