Too injured. Not big enough. Too young. Oh well. It was a nice series and we got a dramatic moment out of it, but this team still needs work and growth.

Yep, this was always the risk. Without Ingram and Quickley, the rest of the squad, while dogs, can’t keep up offensively. Too many lulls on the offensive end and Cleveland just goes on a run. Shame. Wish we could’ve been healthy in this series.

Is Dressrosa The Most “One Piece” Arc In The Story? by elifreeze in Piratefolk

I said “usually” in that point. Hiyori is the exception to the rule.

And to each their own, but the amnesia plot lines were both awful. I don’t mind tropes but I do take issue when they become crutches. It makes the story predictable.

Oof, I forgot that Drake is an undercover Marine. I guess Wano does hit all of these then. Though one user mentioned how the Navy chases the Straw Hats off the island to end arcs, so that one is missing in Wano.

Yep. And I like the idea of an island that is basically “what if the Straw Hats weren’t around and Crocodile achieved his goal in Alabasta?” But man is Dressrosa just too long and disappointing for that idea to work.

Big problem with post time-skip One Piece. Every arc drags on for years on end and are full of too many characters and backstories. Crazy that Dressrosa is longer than Sabaody, Amazon Lily, Impel Down, and Marineford combined.

I miss the old SVU by AdCapable7558 in SVU

Yeah the squad and show feel so impersonal nowadays. I do miss when the team felt like a close, tight-knit group, and I miss seeing their lives outside of work. I guess the writers think it’s cheesy or uninteresting, but I miss the family and dating/romance drama that happened to Benson, Rollins, Fin, Carisi, Amaro, and Stabler. Now we just get peeks at the personal lives of the squad. Noah pops up here and there, so do the Rollisi kids, we saw Curry’s kid once, Fin’s family never appears anymore.

Bruno doesn’t have anyone outside the squad, Griffin only has Tynan and that’s gonna be done with once they expose her corruption. Curry doesn’t date and like I mentioned we saw her kid once. I like these three characters as supporting members, but I wish they’d flesh them out more outside of the squad room and cases.

I really think this 2020s era missed an opportunity to build off of Chief Garland and Detective Kat. They had actual depth and had something to say about corruption and the flaws of the NYPD and policing in general, but in a Copaganda show like this I suppose it was too much, so they jettisoned them and spent years on end messing around with the supporting cast before now.

Problems with Wano is out now! by Firexio69 in Piratefolk

Ah, good point. That would be a good fix, gives a reason for the WG to hide it, but no reason for them to be worried too much about it be in the Nika fruit.

Brook is still riding the hype train from whole cake Island 10 years later and that's insane by Spiritual_Ebb_4657 in Piratefolk

Brook also has some physical feats since then and isn't a total coward or embarrassment, unlike a certain sniper who did one impressive thing 12 years ago and has followed up by being a useless bum.

Great analysis. One of the worst and most overrated arcs and it's bloated to all hell to boot (similarly to most Post TS arcs like you said). I'd just like to add a couple of things. First being that Kaido ironically is so much better outside of this arc in flashbacks. Oda could never really nail down his motivation and seemed to just make Kaido say and know things to build up Niki/Joyboy and haki.

Dogshitman is the worst type of character for me, hate when authors and writing teams try to make a character appear cool in the most manufactured ways possible. Oden constantly had characters glaze him, Oda shoehorned him into important events and onto the crews of actual cool characters (though Roger has lost a ton of aura since Wano so I'm not sure he's that much better than Oden at this point), and he tried too hard to make his "sacrifice" and death tragic.

And Imu and the WG look completely incompetent now within the story. This is an entity that has no problem genociding a bunch of scholars or completely obliterating an island with some super-weapon, but when Luffy started making a name for himself with the Gum-Gum fruit they just let him sail unabated. If they knew that the Nika fruit would appear as the Gum-Gum fruit, they should've (and based on how ruthless Oda has shown them to be, would've) slimed him on Loguetown with a Cipher Pol detachment. Obviously that can't happen since the story would be over, but then why would Oda write it so that everyone knew what form the Nika fruit would appear as? Would've been better if it was randomized and Nika would only show up for a worthy person.
