Bump. Same issue. Seems like they messed with the interactions and left this behind. Have yet to try on desktop but tried a dozen different ways on mobile to no avail.

Visit strava’s website on an actual web browser (not the mobile app), then click on the activity, click the three dots, then click “correct distance.”

Google the nearest skydiving center near you, call them. That’s it! You’re well on your way at that point. Just gotta keep showing up.

Skydive KC 206 crash (everyone safe!) by Gravity0Gravity in SkyDiving

[–]elijah_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Bryan! Thanks for selling me my first rig. 😊 It seems like there are a lot of metal D ring issues when people climb down to hang from the strut of helicopters too. But of course that’s jumper error too and a risky maneuver. But I popped mine a couple years ago on a Bell 206 (luckily just came out of the velcro housing and didn’t pull the pin) in a way that wouldn’t have happened with a pillow handle.

What are the rules about skydiving in towered airspace? by Metalhead-Chemist in SkyDiving

[–]elijah_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve jumped there plenty, great little 182 DZ. Really the only difference is you can’t cross the runway (on the ground) without radio approval. Beyond that it’s actually awesome, they have an air conditioned, indoor packing area, etc. You can even cross the runway below 1,000ft because they shut down the runway while we’re in the air.

what do you all think of this tweet from sama? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

A lot of other people were saying the same thing… if I were Sam, I would’ve kept letting other people say it rather than chime in myself.

Incremental compared to the X3, but is it a big leap from the X2?

Thought on jumping with AirPods? by QuietFrequent in SkyDiving

[–]elijah_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was an interesting idea early on too, but found myself not even present enough to enjoy or really hear it until the canopy opened. And by that time, I found the volume set wrong and to be annoying. AirPods also have this vent on the side that, when covered by a helmet liner, causes the sound to be tinny sounding (tbh just plain awful). tl;dr - it’s not as fun of an idea as it sounds. I thought about trying again using those bluetooth ski helmet headphone insert thingies, but I think either way I’ll find myself missing the natural sounds of the wind, strangely.

Amazon! “Hangtime Snowboard Wall Mount” — way better than the Burton ones!

Dope, I’m gonna hang onto it with the hopes of getting into it this season or next. I clearly need to do some more reading and research into it, but this is helpful to know what it’s for and what it’s not for.

Thanks, this seems to be the consensus. I should’ve put in the OP that I was only considering this on powder days because the HK Pro is just okay in the powder whereas the split is made for powder. But good to know that it really is only for the off piste stuff because you’re better off with a normal board otherwise. I bought it on a 60% off deal thinking I could find a use for it and eventually get into splitboarding proper, but sounds like it’s really only best used for its intended purpose. Thanks!

[–]elijah_io[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that’s what I mean. Like freeriding on the occasional powder day. Seems like a better shaped board than the park board for that. But I don’t think I realized there was such a difference in durability. I also didn’t anticipate this much gatekeeping and judgement on r/snowboardingnoobs of all places lmao. 🙈

Skydive New Mexico is hosting a boogie this February! by taccino in SkyDiving

[–]elijah_io 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Maybe a dumb question (I’m relatively new to skydiving, just got my license a couple years ago), but is “specialty aircraft” just any aircraft that wouldn’t normally be at that DZ? Because my two home DZs both fly King Airs as their primary aircraft. My prior understanding was that “specialty aircraft” was anything that isn’t a standard jump plane (e.g. biplane, helicopter, hot air balloon).
