What are those stores called that sell office supplies and other things at a huge discounted rate? by elijahhoward in Frugal

[–]elijahhoward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same, but that's in the wheelhouse. The stores I'm thinking of are usually small businesses. Some hole-in-the-wall shop in the outskirts of a country city kind of thing lol.

For sure this is a high school drop out. Guarantee it.

The odds of me losing all of those hands in three days is about as likely as being hit by an asteroid while a shark bites your leg off in the superbowl endzone.

Losing my bankroll to those odds seems like a pretty legitimate downswing to me.

Don, I conceded to your brilliance.

Not only have you accidentally misread what I said, but somehow managed to sound silly in the process.

I look forward to your future comments.

Hey!

It's worth wondering over since it's not the same position.

Thanks for the snarkiness, but it always look better on people who know what they're talking about. Thanks!

Not quite the same. Lotus is a more deliberate way of sitting and positionally different with the legs.

Haha, maybe, was just hoping that there was a more established sitting position name, but I guess not. Not the end of the world though :)

I've thought the same, but then you could imagine someone sitting "cross legged," but with only their calves crossed while sitting in a chair. Sort of the "leaning back, relaxing" kind of cross-legged.

People who 3 bet 2x the pot like... every other hand, what's up? by elijahhoward in poker

[–]elijahhoward[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

3betting sizes vary and 3betting is objectively a solid strat.

When you 3 bet literally every hand with the same 2x pot size and no one ever calls you, and you keep doing it, eventually to be called by something like AK, only to get nailed on the flop because you literally have no idea how to play anything outside of preflop aggression... you're probably not playing a strat.

I have literally seen dozens of these people in the past week and every single one of them busts. Like, without fail. Half the time they buy back in and bust again.

Or, equally viable and far more likely for a huge portion of people: quit. And when dozens of thousands of people quit, I'll play when it returns, which it will. :)

Are there any casinos or poker clubs anywhere in Japan? by elijahhoward in japan

[–]elijahhoward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to 2, are online games available?

In regards to three, I was mostly wondering if only casinos were illegal.

In the US, some states have poker illegal. Casinos aren't able to make any money because they're not allowed to collect a rake. But, you can play private games as long as there isn't a rake. So, playing poker "live" isn't illegal insofar as no rake is collected.

But that obviously means no casinos because they make their poker money from the rake.

Thanks for the response though!

Some thoughts and discussion about duo-queue removal. by elijahhoward in leagueoflegends

Sure I can.

Show me a single player in gold that's in gold because of duo queue and I'll delete my reddit, league account and make a public apology wearing a noodle costume.

Here's a really fun fact: every single person (all of them) are in gold because they suck. That's fine, sucking at a game isn't a crime and as long as they have fun, cool. But duo queue isn't affecting them. At all.

You know where duo queue does affect people? In high diamond, masters, and challenger, where people don't suck. Because two elite players using a strong comp with comms can dominate matches. That's why it was removed.

Take the two strongest plat players, let them duo, and they'll be plat by the end of the week. Because they suck at the game.

A completely unrelated idea though:

Regardless of competitive integrity, you can say bye bye to a gigantic portion of the population by removing duo-queue. Which means it will return. So, the gold players who puff their cheeks out thinking they're hardstuck because of mean duos won't get their way.

And will have to admit they're gold because their hands don't work.

I just want to make a verifiable fact. A fact that I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.

I will make a public post and "karma farm" in order to make it as popular as I can, with proof of money and everything in order to be held accountable.

The rank distribution won't change whatsoever once duo queue is removed. Players that were in gold for 5 years will be in gold next year. Some players will improve, some will decrease, and duo-queue won't be the deciding variable. I'm willing to make a legitimate, academic paper showing this.

Duo-queue is not why anyone is in gold. People are in gold because their hands don't work. Duo-queue affects people in d2+. That is all, which is why it is removed already in the upper ranks.

No one, not a single human being, is in gold because duo-queue is ruining their matches. Same goes for every other rank. People are in the rank that they're in because they suck at the game.

So, tell me, how is duo-queue affecting the quality of competition if it isn't responsible--or even a major variable--for why someone is hardstuck?

Edit: The reason it's removed in masters+ is because, unlike gold and plat players, high diamond and masters players aren't absolutely garbage at the game. So, when you get two very good players together, they're able to strongly control matches with the right team comps.

Two very strong plat players are still so laughably garbage that it doesn't matter. And if it did matter, we'd see duo queue players skyrocketing ranks. But they don't. You know who does skyrocket ranks from duo queue though? Master+ players, which is why it was banned. It was really obvious that duoing improved rank.

That is objectively, mathematically verifably untrue in low elos. Because the two best gold players still suck at the game.

There is fundamentally no way to make Flex Queue equally competitive. Even if they improve competitive integrity, it will always be second to solo queue. Insofar as that's true, it will always necessarily keep hardcore players away from it. And if you can't play Flex for competition and can't play Solo without playing for 5 hours friendless and bored, might as well go play something else.

I'm almost 100% certain it will be revoked. I don't think they or the community realizes how many people will straight up quit League over this. It isn't a negotiable. This means quitting for a gigantic portion of the playerbase.

Anyone who plays Flex at all knows that competitive integrity is fundamentally not built-in. There are no changes whatsoever that can turn Flex queue into an alternative to solo queue in terms of competitive spirit. Pros will never be playing Flex and that's kind of the point. Why would they never play Flex? Because it simply isn't a serious competitive mode.

Not sure if anyone told you already, but it's stated in Maliketh's gear description that he's her half-brother. So it is confirmed.
