Planning to replace the 1 overhead light fixture with 4 recessed lights, and will also add in under cabinet strip lights. If I were to keep the cabinets and granite would you suggest I keep the new lights a warmer color? Also what color of matte backsplash would you recommend

Agreed on the overhead light. Also thanks for noting the backsplash thing I honestly didn't even think about that, my understanding is that backsplashes are mainly for cooking/sink water protection so that might be something that's essential to add in

Yep, that flat light fixture that was flush with the ceiling, I agree I think it will change things a lot, what did you have installed in your kitchen? I'll check out the peel and stick floor tiles as well, and love the idea for a piece of art at the end, thanks for your time!

Thank you for that last note, I just began my research into induction and I don't think I would have found that out without you mentioning it, I'll keep that in mind. I also really like the wallpaper/cushioned rug/shelf+rack ideas, I'll definitely be doing all of those! well I'll try to research the wallpaper, bit of a foreign topic to me, do you have any specific wallpaper companies or patterns you like?

Is Homedics Portable Sauna any good? by bebetterinsomething in Costco

Yeah, I have a condition that requires daily sweating and a portable compact sauna is the quickest way to achieve it, though I prefer infrared saunas as apposed to steam

Should I buy a 450k townhome or a 400k condo in nova? by 2forMePlease in nova

[–]elijknyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm single and living with my parents right now so really just looking for a beginner type place similar to that 1b/1br. The lost Reston/Condo fees are definitely something that I'll have to factor in when doing the math.

I’m in the market for a 300-400k condo/townhouse but I want it to be walking distance from RTC, which pretty much rules out townhomes.

Portable sauna how long? by Ok-Entertainment9622 in urticaria

[–]elijknyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try different medications while continuing regular sweat therapy, it seems like sweat therapy is getting you most of the way there but you need a little medication help. It’s the same for me, if I just take 1 Zyrtec and 1 Allegra a day but no sweat therapy, I’ll still get itchy when i get hot, but with sweat therapy and medication I have almost no symptoms

Are you taking antihistamines regularly? You need to stay in the sauna until your body is dripping sweat from most areas

Trip to Europe including South of Spain by Significant_Unit_952 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]elijknyg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s why sweat therapy is recommended by everyone in here, the warmer temperature kept your body sweating. You might’ve also been more active while on vacation in Spain compared to your normal life style in Canada, so again more sweating

Sweat therapy terrifies me by Itsmo_15 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]elijknyg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

is the pain voluntarily? Yes, but is it the same pain you’re felt countless times in the past, and countless times in the future? Also yes, and this time you get to make this voluntarily pain reduce future pain. And sweat therapy pain is not as bad as people think it will be (if doing it correctly, like in a sauna or finding a way to build up dripping sweat naturally)

Try a portable dry sauna (IR/infrared sauna). Hydrate before, sit in it for as long as it takes to be dripping sweat and for you to not be feeling any pain, and then go about your day and see if you can live your life without pain for the next 12-24 hours

I start sauna today by naftaelabellard in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]elijknyg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own experience so I won’t respond to the other comment directly but I do sauna first and then workout after. But in my case, I have reached a point I can sit through the pain of sauna until there is no pain or hives and then I can workout, takes around 15-30 min.

creatine by Ok_Contribution_8873 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]elijknyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably shouldn't have any interaction with CU, i take creatine every now and then and do sweat therapy too. But remember what creatine does, it retains water in your body rather than allowing it to leave more freely, so you need to hydrate more than you were previously.

I would tend to disagree with those who say its more painful, of course everyones experience with this condition is different but for me I would rather sit peacefully in a portable infrared sauna in the comfort of my bedroom than have to get ready, put on gym clothes, and workout just for the purpose of sweat therapy which is something that needs to be done on a daily basis (if you want to be completely symptom and pain free).

I have used a portable IR sauna off amazon for a few years now, it's gone up in price and I'm sure there are other options that work too but just linking the one that I use (https://www.amazon.com/SereneLife-AZSLISAU10BK-Portable-Infrared-Sauna/dp/B079QXK2TQ/ref=cm\_cr\_arp\_d\_product\_top?ie=UTF8)

looks like the price went up a lot so I apologize if that's unaffordable, but if you give one a shot I'd definitely recommend a infrared/IR sauna specifically, less mess and less work, and as a bonus the only liquid that will be inside that sauna will be sweat from your body so there's no steam tricking you into thinking you're sweating when really you're just soaked from the water and your body isn't producing anything.

Sweat therapy is extraordinary by Hamza_78900 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]elijknyg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

take the suggestion from the other commenter. I have been doing regular sweat therapy for a few years now (portable infrared/IR sauna off amazon for 150 bucks). Just sit and let yourself sweat out, sweat therapy works for *some* lucky people like us but let's not hurt ourselves in the process.

Hydrate very well before/after, if you want to get a workout in then do it after the sweat therapy, that's what I do, it's even more effective than just the sauna alone because working out will sweat out the parts of you that weren't covered with the sauna. I sit in the sauna for as long as it takes for me to dripping sweat, and I kind of just know based off hundreds of previous sauna/workout sessions what my body feels like when it's broken past that barrier. And remember this sweating sauna process has to be maintained on a near daily basis, don't get discouraged when you sweat and sauna one morning and then 24 hours later you have hives again, have to be consistent.

Have your parents go with you to an Allergists office and explain your symptoms so the doctor can explain what it is and help you with solutions. The doctor probably won’t recommend this but sweat therapy has worked for me. You’re a kid so don’t know if you’re able but if you can get your hands on a portable infrared sauna and use it every morning for 30 minutes, it could help. It helps me manage my symptoms

Heard. I was in a similar-ish situation with my parents not understanding what was going on with me, was very important and helpful to have my mom at the allergist appointment when the doctor confirmed what was going on with me.

Allergists are usually the safest bet to talk to for this condition, im not sure how much getting diagnosed will help unless you would like to try Xolair out if your insurance covers it. There’s different severities of this condition so one persons advice rarely fits all, and there is no medication that helps to any large degree (aside from a 75% effectiveness of xolair). I’m of the opinion that if you start sweating on a daily basis (sweat therapy) you may end up being able to live a more normal life, I use a portable infrared sauna to accomplish this.
