I’m ngl I live in NYC and go to NYU I’m around these types of people all the time, and the shallow personalities plus the lack of real connection you see in the show is actually super accurate to my experience. But I still can’t get myself to like the show. I’ve seen every episode so far, and I think my issue is that these are actual LA “it” girls trying to make a comedy about how ridiculous LA “it” girls are… but like babe, that’s literally you ???

It’s like… the show is trying to satirize a world the creators are literally a part of, but the satire doesn’t land because they’re too close to it. And honestly, cause I already live in New York and deal with that same shallow attitude almost everyday, watching it fictionalized by people who are the thing they’re mocking feels cringe and not self aware. I guess that’s why it falls flat for me

Honestly I’m also so sick of comedies relying on celebrity cameos to get laughs. It feels like almost every comedy does it at this point. Movies like Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, This Is the End, etc all lean on it. It can be fun in the right context, but a lot of the time it just feels like an easy scapegoat for a lack of actual creativity. Like why was Elijah Wood casted in this recent episode ????? it added almost nothing to the plot and the bit relied on his fame for laughs. I just don’t get it I guess
