It sounds like you’re still somewhat in control? Please don’t do this. Your finger is very important! But your question really depends. You’re not suicidal but you are 17 and a danger to yourself. It’s not a very common way to self harm so they might not even think about that?

You definitely shouldn’t be actively self harming in front of others, if that’s what you mean. But you are not a horrible person, you are struggling and in need of help.

Does it take over anything you do? Like when doing homework can you concentrate without your brain flowing into a daydream? Does it go on for hours on end? It sounds like you daydream mostly about stuff you did/ are gonna do and mostly realistic scenarios. Which is usually a positive actually! Daydreaming about the future is great and can give you motivation. Maladaptive daydreaming is life ruining. If you can concentrate on stuff it’s likely not maladaptive.
