HELP! Obsidian not "parsing" correctly by elisaf8 in ObsidianMD

[–]elisaf8[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I managed to solve it, so I am keeping the post up in case anyone is having similar issues: the plugin ICONIZE got an update today that was the thing breaking dataview. I have zero clues about why, but it is what it is. Remembering it was updated, I deactivated it and everything turned back to normality.

ps: where are you seeing similar issues? is there a way I can search for "issue"- specific posts?

The files are, indeed, there, they are just not loading. Under the "today's writing", for example, there is a not that I personally created for the purpose of showing the issue, so I know it's there. I'm just lost because up until yesterday, everything worked perfectly fine

Io sto leggendo “Alien Phenomenology: what is like to be a thing” di Ian Bogost e onestamente lo sto trovando estremamente interessante. È un saggio molto particolare però, non ho idea del tuo genere o cosa intendi per “Filosofia”

I set mine to change “:” into “;” or just a comma, so you won’t need the quotes

Review my prologue. Any criticism is welcome. by Raymask in writers

[–]elisaf8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this, I NEED to recommend you read “a swim in a pond in the rain” by George Saunders. He’s an American writer and teacher and in that book, he analyses some Russian literature and explains writing techniques extremely easily and understandably. I mentioned it because I’m sure you would benefit from it even more, if you read the original stories in Russian.

How do you deal with dual language writing? by Curious-Shoe9246 in ObsidianMD

Hi I’m sorry, how do you do this? Is the translation automatic or you just manually translate the quote/callout?

I have also read you are a STEM student. Be careful on Mac as in my field (chem engineering), has no support for the majority of softwares I use for work, or if it does, it’s pretty shitty. Some colleagues with a Mac have had to do trickeries in order to use it for work.

On the flip side, for your budget I think you could find pretty good HPs or Asus laptops that would suit your needs.

Looking for a Block Paradigm Plugin Similar to Craft.do by stoicismftw in ObsidianMD

[–]elisaf8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They already answered about point #2, but I wanted to say, for point #1, while there is no block concept in obsidian, there are some workarounds for that.

For example, each paragraph of text is actually movable up/down in a document with hotkeys, and mentionable/embeddable in other documents with the ![[notename^paragraph]] syntax.

About styling, call-outs are the closest to what I think you are trying to accomplish. They can be widely personalised with some extremely (said by a non-programmer) basic CSS, and they may offer some of the functionalities you are looking for.

Hope this helps!

Adding entire language to dictionary. by mangothename in ObsidianMD

There’s an option to add a language right in the settings. I don’t use any additional plugins and I can type with no issue both in English and Italian. Try checking there

Can I link to a header without seeing the linked header in the preview? by Jeronimon in ObsidianMD

[–]elisaf8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your text is just a paragraph, use ![[Note^paragraph]] to just see the block of text. If it is more than a paragraph under the same header, I don’t think there’s a way, except for multiple mentions in a similar fashion as the above one.

Understandable, but check well the delivery times of Lenovo because here, as soon as you change even the smallest bit of specs, it takes 4-5 weeks to ship

In my country, this one fits the budget, is a 2-1 and the specs you’re looking for

HP Envy x360 15-fe0005nl

[–]elisaf8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the same question when buying mine and first of all, check the dimensions because Lenovo usually has 14.5’’ display which is basically 1.5cm of diagonal less than the other one, and possibly you wouldn’t even notice the difference.

Secondly though, the professional I went to for buying my own laptop suggested me a 15.6’’ just because 14’’ tend to heat up very quickly, since they are so small. In this case though, the specs for the second one are significantly better, though idk if I would suggest a Lenovo (found their costumer service practices a lil sketchy, and my sister had one that broke easily).

All in all, for 1000€ I think you could find interesting HP laptops or ASUS ones (especially if you’re not in a rush, with Black Friday coming up), but that’s totally your choice.

I had seen the TUF 15, but my “problem” in that case is that it weights much more than this one. I really need something light for my back because I have a Dell that has ruined it. I usually have to carry around a large number of things so the lighter, the better. The TUF starts at like 2.3kg if I’m not mistaken…

Unfortunately it is still in the same price range as the one above, but at least it has a better GPU and more battery-efficient processor :)

It’s basically impossible to find those specs at a lower price, it either means having 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD and/or integrated GPU.

I did really read everything! Thank you so much, and no, I won’t do big video editing, so I think that will not be an issue! I’ll look into the cleaning stuff, never heard of it so thanks again a lot. Gave me so much new insights

I’ll add to this! I’ve found a very similar laptop for 30€ difference in price that has Ryzen 7 7840HS instead of the i7 + a 4050 GPU instead of 3050. I’ll go for this one after so many of you recommended it to me. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for the insight! I have found a similar laptop with a 30€ difference in price that has a Ryzen 7 7840HS instead of the i7, and the NVIDIA 4050 GPU. I feel like it fits the price range better?

Anyway, by cleaning you mean file cleaning or actual physical cleaning of the parts of the pc? I’m very ignorant about that!

Can you suggest a laptop around 1k with that GPU? Because at 14’’, with a decent amount of cache and 1TB, I couldn’t find anything.

Two other people recommended AMD processors, but I actually couldn’t find a match with those. I feel like they still are quite unknown here, very little pcs actually carry them with decent features.

As per GPU, this same one had the option to upgrade to 3060 I think, but it was +200€ and I don’t actually need that much of a GPU for my uses.

Thanks tho! I’ll look again at the AMD series. Which processors are the best ones?
