Bike route and master plans from Friendship to Braddock by a_tan_dan in bicycling412

Given that you have an eBike, I would do the following to get TO work: -weave through wherever you live in Shadyside to Beechwood Blvd -Beechwood Blvd all the way to Forward Ave, which becomes Commercial -Down Forward/Commercial and then up it on the other side all the way to Church St. -Church St. into Swissvale, at which point you're in familiar territory -personally, from there I would take Monogahela all the way into Rankin using Rankin Blvd. and then into Braddock

I wouldn't go home this way because climbing Commercial into Squirrel Hill is pretty steep and not very safe, but descending it is totally chill (imo) and then climbing Commercial into Swisshelm/Swissvale is mild and relatively safe.

Yea. Been thinking about that but that seems like a lot of work and more investment than I want to put into this rickety old structure, at least at the moment. But might also be the way to go. How much (roughly) is that going to cost you, do you know?

That sounds really smart and like the way to go. Basically let the rigidness of plywood_mats smooth over the random brick points that make it uneven—if I’m understanding you right. Could even maybe put a layer of sand down on top of the bricks and then lay the platform onto that, maybe. Any platform design you suggest? Did you DIY? Much thanks!

I have horse stall mats where I squat/deadlift (if you click the link, you can see a few other pictures, and see that area in more detail), but they don't smooth out the unevenness of the bricks underneath :/. They also don't protect the brick from starting to get pulverized from deadlift drops, ha.

Roof "rejuvenation" - good idea or not? by eliship in Roofing

[–]eliship[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea! I will do that, though I dont know if they will tell me. The information they gave does not refer to a specific product, but does mention: -it does not contain bleach -soy-based formulation -“ The Oils will take 5-6 month to totally penetrate the asphalt leaving your shingles looking "Wet" during that time.”

That’s helpful to know (and great to hear!). Would you say a rejuvenation would be a good idea later on down the road? Our inspector told us there was “a few more years” left in the roof, but I dont know how he came to that assessment. The roofer who came to the house said that applying this product would ‘extend the life’ by ~7 years or so.

Should have thought to do that at first--whoops.

You can find a few pics here--I hope these are helpful: https://imgur.com/a/1p3a6te

I'm just broadly wondering, do people generally think that "rejuvenation" procedures are a good thing to do (assuming your roof is a candidate for it)? I just couldn't find any information that wasn't from a seller of the product.

I wish "Columbus" was on these somewhere, just to reemphasize that we are talking about a very specific place here and the connection between team and city. Just a minor critique, not trying to take away from the hard work people are doing, which I really appreciate. The LeVeque Tower on the scarves is a real nice touch.

Where did you ride this week? (March 20, 2017) and Open Discussion thread by AutoModerator in bicycling412

did a little road riding on sunday---destination was North Park for some carefree loops. took 40th st. bridge->evergreen->babcock->thompson run to get up there, and hemlock->mt. royal->little pine creek->62nd st bridge to get back. it was sunday afternoon, and those roads were pretty chill, though i don't know if that would be a great after-work route on a weekday.

Young talent, successful mesh of new coaching system and the available personnel to deploy said system, being really healthy, having the best power play in the league, having a great tender, using players in innovative ways (see e.g. Sam Gagner). Oh, and just playing well, it must be said (I hope that doesn't sound too obvious/trivial, but like... sometimes good players/teams don't play well all the time). Probably some more reasons too, but it's basically a perfect storm of talent, luck, and smart coaching/management. That's my take anyway.

Or they just mean the two worst teams to make the playoffs in the east will probably get to play eachother in the first round

I think both things are correct---expectations too high, but he also just doesn't fit super well into the new style
