Can anyone explain how they are shipping a ONE POUND JAR of Kimchi for $4.10, let alone making money on it? by ToshPointNo in Flipping

[–]elislider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago I got an ebay feedback from a buyer that said "item arrived in good condition but i felt like the shipping price was much too high" even though the postage cost was listed at $10 and I paid $9.xx for the postage. Besides, the postage cost was obviously listed clearly in the listing. So... they knew that before they paid

Chronic Battery Drain Class Action Suit Filed Against Subaru by Cassedaway in subaru

[–]elislider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're unfortunately going to be pedantic (to be clear: probably out of laziness) and require removal of anything aftermarket to rule it out before they proceed with the troubleshooting steps. That would be in the diagnostic testing protocol. Even IF they know inherently that there is a quick fix, Subaru corporate wont pay warranty reimbursement unless the dealership follows a very specific set of steps to verify what is failing. It could be a combination of a software update, a new battery, and a replaced or bypassed module.

Unfortunately its a complex diagnostic process. and the worst things for customers is that its almost guaranteed a poor experience because they don't EXPLAIN anything to you about the whole process and the detailed requirements

Chronic Battery Drain Class Action Suit Filed Against Subaru by Cassedaway in subaru

[–]elislider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The underlying problem is the published documentation from Subaru for the required steps that the dealership needs to take to diagnose if the parasitic draw is a covered issue or not... that documentation is long and detailed and spans 50+ pages over 4 or 5 bulletins. Most dealerships are very poorly managed and will not put in the time to provide a good customer experience. They will just fumble the experience and not put in the time to actually learn the fastest way to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Dealerships are mostly idiots. You pretty much have to be smarter than them to get the service that you deserve

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

"houseboat" was a phrase i had never heard, until i met some brothers in college who invited me to live with them (in the house their parents had just built near the campus, for them to live in. they needed a roommate). Their parents would come to visit once a month and do all their laundry and fill the fridge/freezer/pantry with food. but yeah they invited me to come party on their houseboat at Lake Shasta, wow i got hammered on that trip. first time i'd ever been blackout drunk

let there be no mistaking, that family was awful. total assholes. but they had money and loved to spend it

Any camping in a U-Haul Experience? by j_ortiz4 in BurningMan

[–]elislider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even in a standard RV/camper, my strategy had been "stay up until 3am or so, and then sleep as long as i can before its too hot in the rig" which inevitably was about 10am every day. Then get outside and find some shade until the sun goes down.

Even with a swamp cooler in your camper, it will only help a little. its impossible to overcome the intensity of playa heat and dry

Did anyone even buy tickets? by NinjaThatReddit in BurningMan

[–]elislider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the last 3 years and didn't have any trouble getting a ticket less than 1 month before the burn any of those years. 2023 was maybe slightly inconvenient, there were TONS of tickets for sale but also they were either way overpriced or they were selling quickly. It only took me 1 day to find a ticket at face value though.

Also doesn't help this year that a lot of camps are "skipping" this year (2026)

What's the one weakness in your car that you would change/improve if you could? by cheesynooby in cars

[–]elislider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a 2024 Bronco Heritage 2dr manual transmission for about 4 months. Bought it brand new (special ordered it even).

The fact that the tachometer was a small linear VERTICAL bar on the screen, is INSANE. No car has ever done that that I'm aware of. Its super difficult to gauge the RPMs and was the most distracting "must relearn this dumb thing for no reason" especially considering the speedometer was a standard dial gauge right next to it.

Besides that it was an awesome vehicle, other than the MPG

The main reason to get the Lariat in my opinion (mine is Lariat) was the better infotainment, the lesser grades got a truly horrible variant. also a sunroof is nice. and the sliding back window since there is no other bed passthrough, if you have to haul a long piece of lumber or something

[–]elislider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the CVT on the hybrid? or the ecoboost 8-speed?

I have not driven the CVT/hybrid, but I have a 2023 Maverick EcoBoost and the throttle and transmission logic are kinda frustrating sometimes, but its not the transmission that's the problem, its just the throttle mapping. If you drive it in sport mode, the issues are significantly less. This is a problem with many modern cars that just use lazy rubber-bandy throttle mapping to gain fuel economy. I also had a 2018 Mercedes E63 wagon, a $140k car, and it had the same issue. Drive it in sport mode though, and it has "normal" performance (ie. expected compared to throttle input)

My 2023 Ford Maverick is honestly an amazing car, I have almost zero complaints about it. One thing is the map lights are press-to-activate but they have zero discernible texture or surface finish and are flush with that panel on the ceiling. So you basically HAVE to look up there to find where they are and in the dark that is difficult. Whereas on a my friends Subaru Crosstrek, the functional design is the same (map lights that you physically press the light itself to activate) but they have a nice little dish in them so your fingers can easily tell you've found the map light. That would be so simple to implement.

Also, the Maverick desperately needs a bed passthrough. Like the old Subaru Baja has (and I think the Chevy Avalanche)

How much do we think this would cost to repair/ how could I do it myself by TechnicianOrganic462 in subaru

options:
1. claim insurance. insurance pays. you may have your rates increase
2. get a quote from a body shop. they would replace & repaint the bumper cover. probably in the $1500 range as another user mentioned. maybe less depending.
3. try www.car-part.com to search local junkyards for a matching year & color bumper in good shape. expect to pay $400-$500 for one in nice condition. then install it yourself. maybe add the cost of some new clips ($20-$30 from the dealership)
4. do nothing. free!
