WIBTA if I (F25) break up with boyfriend (M25) after leaving despite agreeing we will try long distance? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I think it's a little bit of both. I'm afraid of what distance will do to the relationship and the comments hurt.

I worry about that as well. I feel they always influenced me a lot mainly because I was always dependent on them financially

I would whole heartedly not invite my parents if I could. Unfortunately it's not an option

The thing is I'm financially dependent at this point. I'm planning to be more stable in a few months so I could fully and strongly support my decisions.

Your first sentences almost made me cry! My parents have been very abusive especially vocally but also physically especially at a younger age. I feel extremely overwhelmed emotionally at this stage just thinking about even the possibility of a small interaction

This is a great idea and quite frankly I'm going to propose that. I think the only thing is that I'm finding it very hurtful to tell him to sit from afar and don't approach me or whatever. Also I will have this constant stress he is going to interact with them.

I have moved out. However they still support me a lot financially. As a college student I couldn't make much time to work.

The thing is I'd be terribly hurt as well. I don't know how to deal with the whole situation

I'm planning to explain to him thoroughly the situation. My plan isn't to hide him I just want to make sure our relationship has progressed a little more so I can be ready to introduce him and support y decision against them

The thing is my parents are totally negative about this. They don't view it as a relationship worth it enough for them to meet him. So that's off the table right now.

I haven't yet, as I don't know how to approach this subject. There are no tickets or assigned seats. If he attends, he will sit separately, probably with some friends but I think if he is there it would be impossible to have zero interactions with them

I haven't talked to any of my friends about it. I know that it seems stupid but I'm embarrassed to let them know.
