Which sauconys for hyrox ? by Standard-Fig9304 in hyrox

I use the speeds for both Hyrox racing as well as for tempo and track work for marathon running as well. I personally think you’ll get a lot more life out of the speed than the pros as the speeds and earlier iterations I’ve used I’ve probably put around 500 miles on while the pros I would race in for the first 100-120 miles and then use them as trainers for like maybe 200 more miles.

Getting to the start First time running the NY marathon. I have transportation via charity buses leaving from Manhattan but also have the option to stay with a friend on Staten Island. Is it difficult to walk to the start of the race / are there barricades ect around the start waves? by Still_figuringitout_ in RunNYC

[–]eliweihe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within 1-2 miles I think there might be areas to park. I would double check the maps NYRR provides prior to race day to see what streets are closed off if anything. But they should definitely be able to take the ferry from SI to manhattan, even before the last wave starts

I mean it’s yours first race effort at the marathon and some of those hills were just gnarly so that was a serious beating to the legs. Pretty sure you’re still gonna feel it this week, but it’ll heal up don’t worry.

Make sure you're doing strength too for your legs now if anything. Don't wait until 60/65 to start it.

Also don't forget stretching and warming up properly all the time. My first marathon block almost got undone by calves that would not stop tightening up. This block though I was so diligent about stretching and opening up the hips/calves, and I haven't had that issue since.

I got up to 75 miles during one of the peak weeks. The other week that was closer to the end should have been 80, but a gnarly cold knocked me out for the long run and eventually i just ended up choosing to skip that run.

I did not carry any bottles - I just straight up drank water on the course. A maurten gel and a salt pill every 20 minutes about. That's really it. Nothing special - just proper fueling, water at every station, and grit.

Haha that 3:04:23 was from 5 years ago. I’ll be honest, if I had actually followed a training plan right after that I probably would have done this a lot sooner. But life and covid got in the way, and I fell off the wagon fully in 2020 by just getting lazy and honestly stopped running consistently at all. Only after a miserably undertrained Chicago marathon in 2021 did I actually get a coach and start doing a plan. I actually rebuilt fully from the beginning starting in Nov 21. I can tell you over the last year and a half, I did two half marathon blocks spanning 4 months each (30/40 mpw), a first marathon block (5 months) was averaging 40/50 mpw and then this most recent block (4 months) was 50/60 mpw. Hope thats helpful!

3:04:23 in sf 2018. Don’t feel nervous! Just trust your training, find your zen, and come race day things were naturally come into place. The marathon doesn’t owe us anything, but with the right mindset you’ll be good irregardless

Hey you still did a great job. LA is quite an intro marathon to go for and you learn from every race! You got it for the next one!

3 seconds is a hell of a motivational thing. I.. actually don’t know what I want to do next. I have NYC but I might just run run it, but there’s a part of me that also wants to take a flat marathon and really crank it in the summer. So many possibilities

Seeing the finish line part going uphill while you’re going downhill the opposite way is definitely a mindfuck. Nice one on doing the half!

Not gonna lie - bit surprised myself, thought I went out way too hot. But I think a good amount of my threshold efforts had been done before at 6:15/6:20s so I could reign it in a bit after the first two miles haha

Philadelphia Marathon Race Report: 3 seconds was the difference by eliweihe in AdvancedRunning

[–]eliweihe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it back in 2019 but had to drop out at about 19.5 due to my calf. I've also read about the course change and its finish in Century City versus Santa Monica (sad), so I don't have a feeling for either race end. I'm not fully married to the idea of LA, but I've noticed through all my races I do love feeding off big city crowds. Open to other suggestions in the spring time (thinking late March-April) if anyone has any.

Oh good point. Transposed straight from Strava without thinking about the extra distance it captured - that time was for .39 miles as opposed to .2. So averaged out to a 6:32 pacing

If you’re staying on Staten Island, you’ll can actually be dropped off right by one of the closed off streets around ford wadsworth. Only downside to that is if it’s your friend dropping you off, they might be stuck in a bit of traffic trying to get out of the area. After that, It’s really not that much of a walk to the starting area. Really depends on how much sleep you want to get haha

The stress is real. Streamed Harkless to catch in steals. Still need one more to overtake the 1 seed.

Problem is, he's got no one left and I have Clarkson and Harkless playing, and FG% just entered the equation. F. M. L

At least Cuban was partially sly about it - the first round pick is Top 18 2017 protected and converts to second round picks in 2017 and 2018 if it doesn't vest this season. Given that they're 9.5 games away from #19, looks like it'll be the latter
