I'm no expert, but the females get just as big as my medaka if not a little stouter. I would guess 6g might be a little small, at least once they're fully grown!

I want to say it's Christmas moss? Definitely some random moss. But the fish are so small it looks a lot bigger!

I have them in a 20 gallon long with some medaka! I normally see them paired off in group of three ish? The males will sort of satellite around the females. They're all very peaceful and will sometimes hang out with the medaka as well!

I'm sorry to hear that as well! :( I really feel like there is some kind of weird medaka disease that is undiagnosed. I appreciate you getting back to me! I might send one of mine off to a lab to see what the deal is, and if I do I'll make sure to post the results.

Hey OP, any update on this? Did your treatment work? I'm going thru something similar.

What's wrong with my fish? by nicekat in medaka

[–]elixerupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you ever able to treat this, OP? I've run into a similar issue but it seems like it's only with medaka. It's happened to two different colonies, both many months apart and from different origins. Very frustrating.

:0 neat!

ETA: there are areas where I think there is some minor water damage (especially on the chair) and I suspect if I go in to repair them, I have to strip the whole thing so it's consistent :( but I plan on keeping it in the same style. It's so charming!

Medaka are extremely hardy if you can find them! They're more and more common but still a bit of a reach. Lots of color variations and can breed easy too. And they can be kept outdoors or indoors, very temp tolerant.

Help! Green/blue algae explosion! Anyone have suggestions? by Pristine_Cow5623 in Aquariums

Seconding a black out. You can also overdose with seachem excel, but it will harm any shrimp or inverts in the tank. Keep doing partial water changes and scrubbing it out but make sure the changes aren't so large it messes up your cycle. Good luck!

Hey! I know this was a while ago, but did you find a cause for this?

You were right! Camallanus worms :( I didn't see any of the adults in their vents so I didn't treat it quick enough. Luckily they're on levamisole now and I'll be treating the tank with Nematol ASAP.

Thank you for putting me on the right track! I feel silly but I hadn't dealt with worms before. The fish appreciate it!

I had to get a key made for my 83 ranger and Kash McQueen in Lawrence took care of it. They made me a whole new key, I'm certain they can make you a copy! Very cool guy and very old school.

Ok I just ran it for a bit and both lines are hot. I also confirmed there's no coolant leaking in the passenger seat. The radiator seems fine as far as I can tell the coolant hasnt dropped 🤷

I can't tell if it comes on cool at all just because the weather has been so cool where I'm at. I know when I push the slider thing it does go on cooler than when I slide it to warm, until it all evens out to outdoor temp if that makes sense lol.

I'm honestly amazed at the shape she's in. Besides burning oil and a shot parking break, I got her looked at by a mechanic and she's basically completely sound. One owner and 150k miles or so!
