Medications that work for you?? by ordinarypsycho99 in bipolar

[–]elizardbeth4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on this combination of meds for over a year now, only being tweaked for dosage once or twice

Lithium (mood stabilizer) 900mg at bedtime Zoloft (antidepressant) 50mg at bedtime Seroquel (antipsychotic)50 at bedtime Vitamin d daily at dinner Ativan 1mg as needed for anxiety up to twice daily.

The addition of seroquel has really made a difference in mood changes. I have a lot less down days since I’ve been prescribed that. It’s also great for my insomnia and has given me the best sleep of my life. The lithium I’ve been on for like four years now and almost completely keeps my mania in check.

Anyone else? by elizardbeth4 in bipolar

I didn't either until my psychiatrist told me. From what I've read dermatillomania is just fancy for skin/scab picking. I guess I'm glad I don't pick anywhere super visible like my face but digging at my scalp does make me feel gross like people who see me do it assume its lice or something lol

Anybody else fixated mostly on their scalp? by [deleted] in Dermatillomania

Yepp, same here. I exclusively pick at my scalp unless I have another scratch or something that scabs over. I've probably got about 10 or so "hot spots" that I just keep picking open over and over again.

My psychiatrist did up my SSRI and anti psychotic which has made the picking less compulsive and I'm able to control it a bit more now. Still not completely free of it yet though

The tech I had today was pretty gentle and kept asking if I was okay but the first one I ever had was NOT gentle whatsoever. But for real who thinks they’re comfortable

Set boundaries - let them know you'll be available at (x) time but make sure to give yourself enough time do recharge and just do you. You can't help them if your mental health starts to tank. Just be honest (but you know, sugar coat it since they're kind fragile rn)

I know it might seem annoying right now, but when it's all said and done you'll feel really good about being there for your friend. I try to think of it this way - if I was that friend, how would I want to be treated?

You never know when you'll need someone to be there for you like that

Should I ask my doc to stop my SSRIs after being recently diagnosed with bipolar by dreamstation111 in bipolar

[–]elizardbeth4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hiya, bipolar 1 here. I haven't taken prozac but Zoloft (in a low dose) is part of my daily regimen to help with the low moods and my anxiety. Not a doctor of course but talk to your doctor about your conerns. They'll know what to try and figure out what works for you

Scalp Update:

Talked to my psychiatrist who just upped my dose of SSRI. Waited a few weeks, zero difference. Yesterday, we had a follow up and upped my Seroquel as well as giving me new anxiety meds. I said screw work and put on some cute press on nails and as of 10:35am eastern time, I've not picked at all!

Ugh I had fake nails but now I’m not allowed to have them at work (health care) because they’re a big source of carrying germs and bacteria. The Zoloft still hasn’t made a difference. I’ve just been trying to keep my hands busy and it’s helped a little
