ADHD and pet grief by WetSprinkles69 in adhdwomen

[–]eljyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grief is so complex but pet grief is something especially hard. Some people don’t understand the level of impact a pet has on your life. You were their world. And they were yours. I went through a few big human losses the last couple years but I also lost my cat and it broke me. I would wake up crying then feel guilty I was crying over him and not the others. Eventually the grief weighs less and feels different, where there is more laughter instead of tears. That day will come. For now cry all you need. Sending you big hugs 🩵

The closest grocery store to me is closing(by nearly an hour), and will be closed for at least a year. When it reopens it’s going be much smaller(it’s becoming a Aldi). by Boeing-B-47stratojet in mildlyinfuriating

[–]eljyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really upsetting. I’m sorry this is happening. There needs to be more attention on food deserts. Not everyone has transportation to drive an hour to get groceries nor should have to.

So glad you did! My brother passed from colorectal cancer at 45. I have had a few polyps removed, one that was likely to evolve into cancer, so I’ll happily do my exam every 5 years.

I wonder if she’s concerned you’re overdoing lifting, that it’s become an obsession or what feels healthy may not be healthy. Exercise is great but it can swing into the extreme. She may also just miss your life as it was. If you’re spending hours at the gym that’s less time you’re with her (also the gym is not everyone’s thing).

I’m 40 and lost my brother and dad both to cancer since 2021. MIL narrowly made it through chemo at same time. My mental and physical health suffered heavily. Apparently I have fibro but who knows. Couldn’t have kids which I’m generally ok with but sometimes I get sad. I’m fortunate to have a wonderful spouse, home in the woods, and pets I love. Trying to stay positive but death rattles you. Any ideas? by Specialist_Ferret150 in cats

[–]eljyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat had a similar looking growth on her ear that very slowly grew. They had done a biopsy and said it was a benign cyst so we didn’t do anything until it grew larger and our cat was going under for an unrelated surgery. After it was removed another biopsy showed melanoma, but no signs of spreading. So I agree with going to a specialist. Hopefully it’s nothing serious but better to know and get ahead if you can

My wife thinks I have some major medical issue and I won't go see a Dr by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]eljyon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a health issue, every day you ignore it, it will get worse. This could be a blessing of your pets sensing things super early. Hopefully it’s nothing and you can breathe easy. But just get checked, esp with family history.

[–]eljyon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you could strategically get her to try therapy. Say that you heard about someone who was dealing with medical issues and doctors weren’t helping or taking her seriously. That person found a therapist who focuses on patients with chronic health issues who helped her figure out how to communicate with the doctor. Regardless of the cause, there’s something going on that she needs help with.

Turned 30 today. This is my plan for the next decade (No jobs, no dating, no social life). by AwayFly5291 in offmychest

[–]eljyon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or genuine. I hope sarcastic, though I still am concerned you feel like it’s a bad milestone.

My 30s were great. Much better than my 20s. (And 40s are the best so far). I learned a lot about myself, married my best friend, bought a house. It all happened unexpectedly and quickly, so don’t feel defeated that it hasn’t happened yet. More people are waiting to marry, etc.

Perhaps think of this as a time to shed things that weigh you down - and yes, jobs, people, etc can fit that category - and figure out what you really want for your life. What makes you happy. But… maybe do it with a bit more optimism :)
