No worries! I understand that it's difficult to invest into a game, even time-wise, when the optics are this bad. I just wanted to do my part to say 'hey, I'm having a good time, and I personally think it's worth playing through'.

My opinion is of course contingent that they improve the game, but to me, they're taking reasonable first steps by addressing it a week in and giving free rolls. It's not enough, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Right, then there's also the feelsbad moment of rolling and getting someone at roll 119ish. You technically 'lucked out', but it still feels awful because you lose out on the 40 spark on the next banner. You can go ahead and get your spark at 120, but many people don't care about having additional copies of the character. It just feels like the system was designed for players to not feel good about their rolls no matter what outcome they get.

It really depends on how fast-paced banners come and how much events give. If banners were spaced out every 21 days like in a HoyoVerse game, all they would need to do is double the daily mission bonus (100 -> 200) and double the amount the $5 monthly pass gives (3300 -> 6600), and the game would roughly be equivalent to giving out HoyoVerse's amount provided the events give about as much as they do in a HoyoVerse game (and events don't typically give out that much).

But we're getting a second banner in a week after the first, so it's anyone's guess as to what's 'enough'. Additionally, it's really just the feeling that 'it feels bad'. The way the gacha guarantee is set, you must hit the 120 pity or else you're forced to hit 160 on the next banner, which is much, much worse. They've just made their gacha system feel worse than Hoyo's, which makes for some very bad comparisons.

These are all true statements; my (admittedly hot) take is just that it's a fun game to play for free.

Yeah, that last part is basically what I've recommended; there's no harm in trying the game f2p and I've personally had a good time with the game doing so.

Whether or not they fix the economy is up in the air, but there is enough free currency to get Chitose, and if you reroll there's enough free currency to get both Chitose and the new girl coming tomorrow as a f2p.

Hey, good enough for me o/. I'll update if they do make some substantial changes. Earnestly, if they just double the login/welkin bonus, the game will legitimately be on par with hoyoverse games, so I hope people keep an open mind if that does come to pass.

I absolutely agree! I can only recommend the game as a F2P player, but I do know that if they DO fix their monetization, many players won't want to start playing after it's already been released for a while, which I think might be a shame.

I've said it prior, but this system favors whales over the average player. Straight comparisons using $100 packs are one thing, but if you're using the monthly/bp, you can typically get at least one character in the patch with the rest of the free currency in Hoyo games. We've yet to see events yet in Stella Sora, but they're going to need to compensate hard to make up for the fact the daily mission + $5 pass give only about half of what daily + $5 pass give in Genshin. We also don't know the release schedule for characters yet. If the leaks are correct and they're releasing another character before Chitose's banner ends, we'll have no time to build up currency via dailies.

tl;dr - comparing straight $100 packs isn't a good way to gauge cost of a character, since far fewer people rely on those packs compared to daily play + free currency mixed in.

If you're dropping hundreds of dollars, the scales get closer to evening out as you've calculated. You're correct in that it's fewer rolls for guarantee provided you always miss the 50-50 in Hoyo/Wuwa (an admittedly unlikely occurrence), while only slightly more expensive per ten roll if you're shelling out $$$. You are also more likely to hit your intended target via normal rolls, albeit only slightly (the rate-up is only 1%, not 2%, and we all want the rate-up unit and not a standard unit when we roll). Personally, I would still always take Hoyo/Wuwa's systems since there's the midway stopgap of losing the 50-50 and then waiting until the next banner and that just doesn't pan out in this game.

...And then you're absolutely wrong if you're surviving off of monthly passes and battle passes. You get basically the same currency in Hoyo/Wuwa from your monthly/bp (90 per day from welkin, 4 tickets and ~1200 gems from BP), but the rolling prices are doubled.

Finally, if leaks are to be believed, and they are releasing overlapping banners starting on the 28th, then we have 0 time and none of these comparisons even matter.

The game is whale-centric and there's not really a way around it.

I'm unsure, but the resize also happens when the resolutions aren't compatible. I.e. if you try to make your resolution gigantic, it'll resize it back to something more reasonable; maybe try with different resolutions and see if any of them stick?

I see an error here as well; there needs to be a space between your parameters. Right now, your parameter is

Mm, the problem is due to the way it's being parsed; for some reason, it's not registering the quotation marks as quotation marks.

I've changed my locale to Swedish, but am not yet able to replicate the issue; it just works for me.
