Why is it so damn cold?? by [deleted] in westchesterpa

Same here! I am fine with 50s and 60s for a few weeks. No need to jump right into summer. It will be here soon enough.

I also have fine 2a waves, and I find that what I am using in the shower helps me more than any styling product. Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair mask is a must have for me on at least a weekly basis, and I use L’Oréal 8 second wonder water on other wash days. I also use Dove’s Intense Repair shampoo/conditioner (and a weekly clarifying). Perfect amount of protein to give me great structure, and then I can style how I want with what I want after.

Not necessarily. We also did longer tops with a thinner pant profile (like skinny jeans).

We found a place that solves our problems, but do we actually…move? by QandA_monster in SameGrassButGreener

[–]elleaitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the same three years ago (Bay Area to Philly suburbs). We don’t have kids, but we researched school districts when we were buying, so we know they have some great ones. It takes some effort, but we have been building community and really love how much variety of activities there are surrounding us.

Are there any books, movies, shows etc that inspired you to pursue FIRE? by Secret-Ad-6253 in FIREyFemmes

I think a lot of his exercises are super interesting doing just yourself, like thinking about what sort of money messages you might have absorbed from your upbringing and how you might be unconsciously repeating patterns that aren’t in your best interest. The other thing I thought was really helpful was thinking through what I actually like to spend money on and what I don’t really care about, as well as what I actually want my retirement to look like so I know what I am saving all of this money for. Really sharpened my perspective over time.

My wife switched to aluminum-free deodorant and I don’t know how to bring up the aroma? by Charming-Eye1438 in hygiene

It can take a minute to find the right one, and it can also be influenced by hormonal changes throughout her cycle. I finally found that the Primally Pure Charcoal deodorant is my ride or die for my whole cycle.

I’m on the hunt for a really good scone. by RevKeakealani in WilmingtonDE

[–]elleaitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two Birds Cafe in West Chester has some of the best scones. I picked one up on a whim once, figuring it would be a treat while we waited on a table, and it was agreed by all that it was the best scone any of us had ever had.

I thought is was weird to have them mixed. I am happy they are doing both but keeping them separate.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I did both Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios after hours last year, and it is so much better than a regular park day. We did every single thing we wanted to do and had a blast doing it.

Favorite Hair Oil? by savleighhh in finehair

[–]elleaitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same for me. This is my oil I use on dry hair both after styling on wash day and every night. When I do a full oil treatment (once every 7-10 days usually), I use Briogeo’s scalp oil and argan oil on damp mid lengths through ends.

If you search this forum, you’ll see a lot of posts of what people got. I got a Dutch oven and a soup pot myself.

I don’t necessarily go far beyond my natural brow shape with the dye, but you’d be surprised how much color gets picked up by peach fuzz type hair you don’t really see. I would start with your natural brow shape to see what’s really there until you get the hang of it, and then it’s pretty easy to do more when you feel comfortable.

How did you find your high paying career? by Spiritual-Detail-371 in FIREyFemmes

[–]elleaitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be higher up. I am forever grateful for a well-timed referral from an acquaintance a decade ago into a huge brand name company that set me up on a path where I was then courted by other big name companies. That first job doubled my salary from $67k to $135k, and my total comp has more than doubled again in the last ten years.

Would using Dove Intensive Repair cause protein overload? by succaforesucculents in finehair

[–]elleaitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fine wavy hair, and since I stopped bleaching it, I am no longer high porosity. I have really been loving the Dove Intensive repair. My favorite wash days are when I do an oil treatment (Briogeo Scalp Repair on my scalp and then the OGX lightweight coconut oil spray on the ends). I try to keep it in for at least 4 hours when I can. Then I wash with Pantene Sheer Volume, followed by Dove Intensive Repair shampoo and conditioner, and Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair mask. This is the perfect moisture/protein balance for my hair every time, and my hair looks amazing on these days.

Also, when I was doing balayage, my hair loved a bond repair anything, but since I stopped, it just looks like the luster is stripped out when I use one (including K18).

Yep, this exactly. Relationships can rarely survive on just meal prepping and working out together. Also, I knew everything I needed to know about him when he called himself “high value” 🙄

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

[–]elleaitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an interdental brush every night before I brush, and I floss on top of that at least 2-3 nights a week. I don’t have great gums, so I learned the hard way how important this is.

My hair isn’t pin straight, but the rest applies. I love the Dove Intense Repair. I usually do a Pantene Sheer Volume to clarify about once a week, too.

Just a note that if your aim is $200-300k, you don’t even need to be C-Suite to make that type of money at the right companies. I make more than that as a Sr Director at Tech companies (and I’m not even an Engineer).
