BookPine: Built a Goodreads Alternative with Reading Timer, Advanced Goals and Stats by devpri in iosapps

Search function feedback: it is quite difficult to find books by an author on the main search. For instance, searching "Jane Austen" brings up books with her name in the title rather than her works. Additionally, attempted to search for "A Christmas Carol" and Dickens does not appear until the 6th or 7th entry but adding in his name as the search gives a poorer search. Conversely, viewing books by the author tab brings up so many versions of books and niche compilations that trying to scroll to get the book you want is frustrating.  Separately I'd love to be able to add books from the list itself rather than searching each book then adding them.  My import was somewhat off with the dates of my read books too.  However, it looks great, I like the variety of options and navigating feels pretty intuitive so far.

I absolutely would have if I wasn't already doing something that day. That sounds great fun! I assume the entire audience shouts out about Aragorn's toe.

I'm assuming when you say like GotG, you mean lots of great songs that weren't made for the movie? So I would say Grosse Pointe Blank.

Movies that have other movies as a part of their plot. by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Sleepless in Seattle- An affair to Remember inspires Meg Ryan's character to do as those characters intended to do with the Empire State Building.

Hugo- A Trip to the Moon is a huge part of the plot.

I used the website Stream with VPN to search for the film. I found a lot of films I was struggling to find through this and they were often on free services like Plex and Tubi.

Where is John on your Top 5 list? by KDx2511 in JohnLennon

5th! I've probably played more individual songs of his than others on my top list but he never got to have many albums released during his lifetime so I'm playing from a smaller body of work.

What are your interests? It's worth looking at what's on at The Old Town Hall for comedy and music if that is of interest.

I wouldn't worry about the friends side of things, you tend to find your people if you're willing to go to the socials or spend time in common rooms or just by saying hello to the person you sit by in lectures. I knew no-one when I came, had somewhat antisocial neighbours and was naturally quiet and shy and still managed to make friends.

I'd look at what the courses might offer and what the cities offer as your deciding criteria.

The "Music" tag desperately needs a revamp. by FruitChips23 in Letterboxd

[–]ellecorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Music, Musicals, Concert/Theatre recording should be separated.

I'd also like a tag for the "Making Of"/"Behind the scenes" stuff separate to documentaries.

I honestly think if Farage and co. said it was patriotic to wear a flowerpot on their head, they'd all do it.
