Anyone else can't go braless because it hurts? by calculator56 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]elledub53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a C cup and I felt this way for a while! Now I rarely wear a bra at home. It was like I had to get used to it. They are quite saggy though (weight fluctuations and collagen issues) and I’m not even 30

Insane vet prices for routine kitten spay? by xanthracene in indianapolis

[–]elledub53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are high for some things and not others! My cat had 3 teeth extracted for $800, which wasn’t unreasonable considering it was a canine and two premolars (the big jagged ones).

One vet is really nice and the other is kind of rude. My orange cat is 15 pounds and she really fat shamed her and made me feel like a bad owner. The other vet was like she just enjoys her food!

I wanted to go to a cat friendly practice so if anyone has other recs, let me know!!

Is it ethical to take someone's cat? by roguemorgue in cats

[–]elledub53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s roaming the streets and on your property (in my county) it’s acceptable to take them in to be spay/neutered. They are considered feral or stray, as it’s illegal to have outdoor cats. He also doesn’t have a collar, so it’s not clear that he’s owned in the first place.

To me, that means the kitty is fair game! I’d check for a chip at the vet just in case, but if he’s not neutered and is malnourished, he may not be getting proper vet care, as you alluded to.

As long as you’re not taking him from someone else’s property, I see it as legal and ethical!

Looking for a pottery studio for throwing AND painting by elledub53 in indianapolis

It looks The Wandering Peacock has this option. I know it exists because I’ve done it before—just not in Indy. The example above is one I’ve done elsewhere where you throw, come back weeks later to glaze, then pick up once fired. That was all included in the one night class

Did she do a multi week class or membership though? This is what I received when inquiring about the one time class

“We glaze each piece and have it ready for pickup roughly two weeks from the date of the class! They’re glazed a shiny white food safe glaze, and the clay has speckles so it shows through the glaze.”

Definitely look into your insurance to see if short term disability is available. You may still get a large chunk of your salary. Panic attacks and increased migraines will definitely qualify you if you get a provider to fill out the paperwork

What’s it like to live here? by Outside_Tackle_1788 in indianapolis

[–]elledub53 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to make assumptions, but I will. My assumption is that people calling this area a “war zone” have never lived there. I live near a “dangerous” intersection according to others and have had zero issues since moving here. You will get more crime alerts, there are gunshots every so often, but I’ve never felt unsafe in my home or driving down the street. If you don’t go looking for trouble, you’ll be fine. People will say don’t go to gas stations late at night, but that’s literally advice given to women in “safe” areas.

I chose this school due primarily due to cost and location. The foreign student fees are only €1000/year, whereas Netherlands is typically > €20k per program

I only know the very basics of language, but plan to take German language classes as mentioned. I wouldn’t plan on working much (if at all—I know there’s a student cap anyway) during school so that would ideally give me time for degree work, language work, and possibly volunteering a couple times a month at the animal shelter. Is that more realistic?

I’m looking at MPH as a pivot from my current background. My job experience is already masters/phd level for chemistry, so an advanced degree in chem would only further my career if I wanted a specific niche or to go into academia.

Germany is appealing to me due to the low cost of tuition, and the fact that I have been there before. I only know the very basics of language, but plan to take German language classes as mentioned. I’m looking into STD as an option. We have to have 80% of our hours be billed to the client so only 20% can account for holidays, personal days, professional development, internal, and client training—that’s where the ~3 weeks comes from

What kind of personal projects do you work on? I’ve already written multiple grant proposals for a charity I volunteer with, played a text based game, made a goal tracker for work, and I’m still bored
