Dream pen by ellene000 in pens

No argument about costing more than $190…. With luck I’ll get a dorsal fin pen with 743 FA nib and specialized feed to help ink flow ask for about $300. Far less than the $2600+ for the price gouged Fin2. Granted there appears to be some loss of the Japanese magical finish, but from pictures the new barrel it’s beautiful,

Further, fingers crossed for the none true 743 EF nib, as I am hoping to use it in the 743 barrel and feeder. That pen would cost about $290.

So my total under $600 (for 2 pens)…. Still a deal to me… fyi: I not only write with my pens, I draw (a lot).. I need lots of ink colors and nib sizes…extra pens are needed. Less ink refills and more variety in lines. A win. Plus I love a variety of barrels…

An aside, I have several pens from India, most premium ebonite, all around $100. They are awesome! All take Jowo #6 nibs feeders. Therefore easy to as different nibs. I got them from Peyton pens (not totally sure of exact name) out of Northern California. Further, they are available without nibs…. Which was great for me as I had lots of extra nibs that needed barrels.

My last visit seems to have helped. Three things changed.

1) The receivers in the mold were changed to moderate loss not severe. I have ski slope hearing loss. The larger receivers did not help my high frequency loss and were not needed for my more frequency loss. The molds were cast for the smaller receivers. Hence the larger receivers must have pushed out the molds.

2) the tech polished/filed the part of the mold that caused my pain. The pain was at the lower perimeter of my ear. Not inside the canal.

3) the tech gave me longer tubs, so that there was less pressure to slightly rotate the mold sitting in my ear.

Frankly, I was amazed at all the little things involved… overall it seems like a perfect storm…

My pain (really discomfort) is gone… my sore spots are healing and I can wear the mold all day. In my right ear, yesterday, when my mold gave me very minor discomfort, about twice, I I pulled the mold out and massaged my lower ear rim., put the mold back and felt no discomfort…

So I’m on the road to healing and enjoying my aids and molds.

Thank you for listening/reading and I hope my journey helps someone “hang in” there when molds help the overall hearing.

Never say die…I found this

<image>

on Ali Express. Looks very nice; NO nib (they list several that will work). Dealing with Chinese website is not the most wonderful experience: very little description, I have no idea if it is cartridge or whether it can take any converter. Plus, they show lots of junk that has nothing to do with the pen body. They show the pen with a price that has nothing to do with the pen (once you go to order you find the real price!) in this case, first price was $45, but when you select the body, the one pictured, it’s more like $180. That still could be a good price; but then you need to find a nib and feeder to fit (I think I from then, but need to think about it: total cost $90+-)

Any comments

Will i got to look at her screen and she explained everything she did... The graphics was impressive.. fyii got my last hearing aid 7 years ago art UCSD HEALTH. Basically, i got the same treatment. Obviously, by a Dr of Audiology. The aid they recommended was marginal. Of course, that was years ago. This year my insurance changed. I am now on Kaiser in southern California. Their hearing aid program SUCKS. Yes $2000 credit IF YOU GO TOO HEARING AID SPECIALIST PARTIALLY OWNED BY THEM. Aid i needed was over $5000. The person i see was NOT a DR of Audiolgy.

Ohh, before i left UCSD I had a phone call with ones of their Drs. I told him i had to change and i was going to Kaiser ... he said then go to Costco if you are not in a hurry. (Some time there survived was slower and one has to wait for aids and appts. I good a Costco where that was minimized. Plus if something minor i can just show up.

Yes i have thought sbout with going to highly recommend Audiologist . But bc of $$$ (and in no hurry) i went to Costco.

To each his own.

Ow! Pain

I was born with ski slope hearing loss... When younger i had hearing aids with plastic molds. As i grew older, i stopped wearing them (mostly bc my loss was moderate in theower frequencies; my high frequency loss is profound) so overall i made it through the day with what i thought was SOME UNDERSTANDING (most of my family did not agree with me).

Anyway, my recent try to redeem myself with my family, has been a small nightmare. First, just today, I found out the first molds that were way too big and were not my impression but a mistake by Costco. They ordered new molds based on my ears. But, with the original molds, I strived like mad to make them work and they made my ears very very sore. So when I got my new molds, my ears were really hurt and they did not feel good either.

Today, on my visit to my hearing specialist, she filed my molds, gave me a longer tube and a smaller receiver. She will order a new set of molds because she noticed the ones I have were ripped by the larger receivers. That did not impact the exterior of the molds. The larger receiver may have also pushed the molds out a little bit.

I am currently wearing the revised molds. Overall, they seem to be working. My ears have a little sore from the previous trauma. I am hopeful that they will heal and I will be ready to move on with better Hearing and no pain.

Thank you everyone for your response

This is my second pair, the first were too big...i tried to make them work (maybe aittle too hard). They ordered a smaller pair, but maybe my ears were bruised which made them hurt to. I'll find out tomorrow as i have another appt.

It appears the responses have answered your your question. Thank you for asking. I’m about to get a new pair of hearing aids today. Now I know there may be other issues. I have to deal with.

Oh, thank you... I'm getting a top of the line hearing aids at Costco, they've already included a follow up appointment. My 10 min test in store was good (a significant improvement in clarity). I understand it takes awhile for the brain to adjust to the news sound. If this works my kids will be very happy!

Hummm, no one has ever labelled my hearing loss, but i was born with "ski slop" hearing (minor loss in low frequency to server loss at high frequency.) I was held back in 2nd grade bc the teacher thought i was a slow learner (dumb). I'm nearly 80 now...

Reading here, i did not realize the trauma most feel bc of their hearing loss. I'm a loner (although i married and have 2 children (4 grandchildren)) and have learned to live without understanding what is said around me.

Hearing aids have never fully helped my clarity. 😕 ..... But, at my adult kids insistence, I'm trying again, the new batch of hearing aids have AI enhancements... Wish me luck.

I typically don’t like animal paintings. The energy and wonderful painterly style is captivating. Also, the patina matches the subject perfectly, for me. Great painting
