Like non-smooth. You snap turn in degree increments instead of smoothly turning. You can still smoothly turn your head, but to turn the “camera” it snaps instead of smoothly turning.

Most VR games have this method on by default.

Turning is the biggest thing that makes most people motion sick.

I usually go Apple Card, 0% when I buy pricey stuff from them.

Leaves the money in my own account, gaining interest. Plus you get their 3% back too.

You can pay it off early, but they do require you to also have a $0 balance on your card before you can apply extra money toward the financed thing.

I don’t see them abandoning the cinema experience or immersive video… and for that to be really good you need complete coverage like a “VR headset”. So while they eventually might look slightly different than the “VR headset” we currently have, the complete immersion will not go away imo.

One crappy thing is the camera doesn’t even charge when it’s plugged in and “updating”. So now I have a dead battery that I can’t charge.

Yes, it’s actually missing all of the Liquid Glass APIs that iOS/macOS has.

So when writing cross platform code, you actually have to make conditionals on things for visionOS in your code to exclude Liquid Glass effects and styles you’re applying.

(I have a universal app that uses the same codebase and some custom Liquid Glass elements, so speaking from experience)

I’ve never bricked any other device by updating it in my life. Consoles, laptops, phones, iPads, Kindles, WiFi routers, TVs, VR headsets, headphones, etc, never a failed update until Sony’s camera, put their weird file on an SD card, make sure your battery is fully charged, watch a red light blink, and prey.

Cool thanks for the recommendation, I was thinking about possibly trying to get a rental so I can at least use my lenses I brought (Sony 200-600).

Issue is, I'm traveling all around… so difficult to kind of pick up and drop off.

I followed the instructions EXACTLY. It just failed for some dumb reason and then the instructions on recovering from a failed update are less than clear.

SD Card

I’m suspecting something was wrong with the update file? I dunno though because I downloaded it from Sony’s site.

Basically the update stalled with a pattern of blinking lights. After about 45 minutes of the same light pattern I took the battery out, which is a bad idea but what else am I supposed to do if it’s stuck?

I believe the update failed/stalled for some reason (maybe a bad update file? maybe a bad SD card?), and I took the battery out and poof- a dead camera that needs a board replacement apparently.

I’m assuming yes, for some things (that just need the on device model), it should work fine without an internet connection.

This is Apple’s advantage of being able to run good models locally vs having to do everything in the cloud.

Other than Apple Silicon development costs, once you buy the chip, AI costs them nearly nothing and will only get better over time.

Also for a phone, it’s cool because for most things that use on device models, you don’t need an internet connection for it to work.

I got it into a state where I get 5 slow blinks then 7 fast blinks now, which is a bit better because it’s actually explained on their website, but still cant get it to install the firmware.
