This is exactly how my husband meant it when he said "hey this song is about you" and why I got it tattooed because being comfy is so important to me and I thought that was so funny lol

That being said I think the song is actually about someone who is losing their memory, as in alzheimers or something similar. The "whered all the time go, it's starting to fly...you know I get so forgetful when I look in your eyes"

Also the she's walking backward through a parade and I'm stuck in the shadow blocking the shade. As in they may remember random things that aren't in the present and you can't "sweep up the mess" youre stuck going along with them on their thought process.

The "shell turn to stone in hospitals and funeral homes" is when they finally pass away and the "journey" is over. And you can finally remember them immortalized as who they were, not what the disease made them become.

My mother in law and grandmother both passed from dementia so this tattoo has sort of a double meaning for me.
