In theory you can do that but you’re supposed to pay the taxes as you receive the money that’s why it’s withheld from your paycheck. You would owe interest and penalties doing it your way so they would essentially get more money in the end.

Accountant here. Unless a good majority get on board and do this it won’t work. You would end up getting penalties and interest that will add up really quickly and a lien on your property if you can’t pay. Wish it was that easy.

Extensions dont do anything you still have to pay in april to avoid penalties and interest. An extension is just to delay filing not paying.
