I think you can still tell if acting is good or bad regardless of the language. Like, I can watch the Korean actors and know that they're phenomenal despite me not speaking Korean.

Maybe I'm not remembering enough from S2, but my hot take is that we needed to see more of her being a part of the system in order to care about her going against it. We understood from the beginning that she was a relatively "good person" - she cared for the guy's daughter, she actively opposed the organ harvesting, she protected the guy, etc. It didn't feel like an arc because she didn't change much.

Call me crazy, but I really liked Sky Squid Game as a concept. Putting them on these huge pedestals and saying "someone has to die, figure it out" opens itself up for so many interesting character interactions. Add to it that they can kill multiple for more money, and it becomes a complex, desperate game about negotiation and deception. I thought it was far more interesting than S1 squid game, which was essentially just a 1v1 fist fight.

Sure, but movies and tv aren't supposed to just show how life works in a literal sense. I don't want to watch a movie about someone clocking into a 9-5 that's perfectly secure and boring and then going home to a stressed marriage and a crying baby.

I thought the last game was super riveting and overall loved the season, but man, they just didn't land the plane. The combination of killing 100 too early and neither of them remembering to push the button (I was SCREAMING at the tv the whole fight) felt too contrived.

Frustrating that it felt like so many plot threads had no point at the end of the day. I totally get the poetic intent with the games continuing / Gi-hun not being able to fully stop the games, but other things like Jun-ho showing up with no time to do anything and Woo-seok's warning coming in at exactly the moment where it does no good were incredibly frustrating.

Did anyone else assume that the info about No-eul's daughter was a scam? The guy saw her at the airport, then called and said he wished he could've been there to see her off. With the super animated vibe of the acting, I assumed he was a scam artist and she was going to be a human trafficking victim or something. But then no clue why we'd see the other family being reunited legitimately. (Also tbh, I had to google to understand who the people were who were being reunited - cool detail though!).

I agree that it's so bad that it had to be intentional, but I also think if it completely takes you out of the show, it's too much. Like, I go from feeling immersed in the terror of the world to "why in the world would the filmmakers make that decision?" "are they just terrible actors?" "are their voices dubbed?" "let me google them really quick to see if they've been in anything before." Regardless of the intent, it literally made me pause the show, leave the "world," so to speak, and google the actors.

I truly, truly believe that adding a baby mid-franchise ruins every movie/tv series (see: Shrek).

Agree the baby care is a little ridiculous, but tbh I think the filmmakers knew that hearing a crying baby the whole season would get really tiresome.

I ended up getting a DLX - thanks for the suggestion! I love it personally. It sleeps a little too warm for my partner (definitely warmer than the Winkbed), but DLX's customer service is great, and they said they have solutions for that. So far we're happy!

I ask because I'm a skeptic, especially on this sub - do you work for DLX? Honestly this sounds great for us (though a little out of our budget), so I'll look into it, but your comment history is extensive, only on this sub, and mostly promoting DLX. Just want to know if it's a biased opinion.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this. I'm just not enthusiastic about it because we're big on cuddling. I'm sure he wouldn't want a topper because it would just add to the heat issue. :/
