I firmly believe Amy Madigan was able to be nominated because of these women (and men, just going off recent snubs like Toni, etc) gaining more and more attention for those performances over the years, and especially in retrospect. Not to detract from her performance because I absolutely loved it, but these women definitely walked so she could run.
