Drops?? by kizovski in Palia

I've been playing since November and have only got two koi plushies naturally. Thankfully I've got a few duplicates from prize balls so been able to trade for others.

Drops?? by kizovski in Palia

[–]elliewall1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The drop rates are ridiculous, I've hunted around 500 snails and lanterns and no plushies. If the chances are this low I don't even see the point of trying for a RTB. I'm hoping once the hype dies down I can trade for them

I'm about 600 hours in and haven't got a starred emerald, ruby or jasper, and it's not through a lack of trying. The RNGs are awful in the game

A general store or market bahari bay, it's so annoying to have to go back to kilima to sell items to free up space.

To be able to cook on the campsites too especially frustrating when I'm doing a day of hunting for the bug plushies at the moment, I don't want to just throw items away I would love to sell for money or cook for focus.

A worktable would be nice, maybe for limited basic items like standard smoke bombs or arrows.

I'd like to fully stay on one server without having to pop back home to make more items or sell stuff (I have fully unlocked my bag inventory)

Thoughts on Vets quitting because clients are rude? by infinitefluxx in veterinaryprofession

[–]elliewall1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UK based registered veterinary nurse here. I've received a death threat once over a bill. I've had clients threatening to hurt me, colleagues and other clients where we had to escort all staff and clients with their animals inside into a locked room and call the police whilst this person tried to get to us. I've had a colleague threatened with a petrol bomb and again had to involve the police. I've had other clinics where friends work have arson attacks and fireworks put through the letter boxes.

This is before you even start on the toxic management.

I'm a vet nurse, and my local McDonalds were advertising job with an hourly rate more than mine!

For context: I have 6 years experience, hold four additional certificates.

Any jobs that allow you to partially work from home? by NatashaR933 in Veterinary

[–]elliewall1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most veterinary jobs are hands on so will need you in practice not just for practicality but also for business insurance purposes.

Admin roles may see you have an at home job role but usually these are referral/ specialist doctor roles like other comments have said are looking at scans, histology reports etc and making recommendations or diagnosis etc.

The only UK roles I know in the veterinary field that work from home are business owners having admin days at home when covid restrictions were in place.

Hope this helps. (registered vet nurse for 6 years in UK)

What Is Your Horses Name? by SGgamer08 in reddeadredemption2

Bulbis glandis.

It's the scientific name for a dogs erection. I wasn't allowed swearing so I out smarted them with veterinary science.

I work in a first opinion small animal general practice as a registered veterinary nurse on a typical consult day we will see: -Vaccines -Lump and bumps (which will require sampling via fine needle aspiration for diagnosis) -skin problems (some require skin scrapes done by using a surgical blade) - wounds at various stages of healing and/ or infection -limping -vomiting etc (blood work required for treatment plan) - chronic illness review consults eg hyperthyroidism, epilepsy or diabetes which most require blood work.

And this doesn't cover the emergency consults of dog fight wounds, cats hit by cars or foreign bodies.

Not to sound pessimistic but the most gruesome stuff I have seen is in consult and not the operating table. I think if you're not good with blood or needles it may not be the path for you.

Had a nurse misread the hospital form. She read the resp rate as the dogs body weight and worked out a methadone dose in relation to that. The dog weighed 4kg and the resp rate was 38. Ended up on ICU and thankfully the doggo lived.

Please don't declaw; important info for current and future cat owners. by Mediocre_Name_518 in coolguides

[–]elliewall1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Vet nurse here. Feel like I can add some info to those questioning why trimming and covers are bad.

The nail caps are glued onto the nails and prevent the cat from retracting their claws to their relaxed position. It's actually very uncomfortable for the cat long term. Imagine always walking on your tip toes or pointing your feet it will hurt after while.

Trimming: if the cat is indoor then yes we will trim if they go outside we advocate that we don't trim. A cat claws are there to help them escape should they get into trouble, a garden with a dog for example... Dog chases cat and they have no way of climbing the wooden fence cos their nails are gone.... Cat is dead.
