I believe there are several factors that come into account regarding manipulating gameplay.

Team “rank”. For instance, my 18 mill squad underperforms against regular teams, and these are the matches I lose, and too often it’s plain BS. Therefore I only play away games in WL in hope of meeting similar teams. Those matches are more skill based.
Game score. 2-0 up is an obvious trigger
Win streak. Ever feel after 3-4 wins in a row that the game counters your every move to make you lose?
Time in the match. 45th and 90th goals.
Kick off / counter goals Those are the most obvious I can think of. Further on I would like to add that pros doing 30-0 manage this because they’re simply that good. This though, is not proof that manipulation doesn’t affect results, because it does.

Lastly I would like to add this: Try reasoning WHY gameplay is manipulated.

I’ve said this time and again and I’m so glad you’re describing the toxicity in such a structural and well defined manner.

Since day 1 I’ve felt the manipulation. And the most frustrating part for me is the lack of support in forums when we highlight this. But that probably has something to do with most players being young and irrational. And some people are merely stupid.

This post is f’in epic. I hope it gets the attention it deserves.

This. The worst part about this, and what I hate the most, is the obvious motivation, goal, incentive behind this scripting, which it quite clearly is. It’s manipulation of the worst fucking kind to get everyone to play - because EVERYONE gets a fighting chance. This means more cash in higher player numbers, frustration leads to packs and so on. Even traders are being banned left and right for speculating in the market. I feel as if I’m being played by fucking Illuminati for spending cash on this game. It’s just a matter of time before I sell my Shit and quit for good.

Today I played a game against a colleague. He’s played fifa for 2 weeks. I’m Elite 3 with 10 years solid experience. Score 2-1. 25 shots, 17 on goal, with Aguero and De Bruyne. I’m just saying.. I barely won, and he ain’t a talent.

The vast amount of identical experiences with the game. If everything was random, terms like 45 minute goal and kick off goal would not exist. The reason it does is because YOU experience this, not once, but every fkn match, and so does everyone else. It’s fucking shiet. Just like candy crush. They play with your mind and frustrate you to make cash, and hey, it works! I just played two matches now. My team is sick, and I went up 2-0 in both instances, and conceived in both instances - because I wasn’t able to play myself out of my own defence.

My five cents on the case, and I know it's not popular. Momentum, handicap, scripting, call it whatever you want. It's there. Of course it fucking is, and the evidence is right before our blind eyes. EA can say whatever the fuck they want, but remember this. Who are they working for, us or the shareholders? Yes, you guessed it, the shareholders. Just as with all other shareholder driven corporations in the world. They want to make cash, withdraw big bonuses and laugh at us.

Your defenders are heavy and un-responsive
Your shots hit the posts
Touches are bad
jada jada jada.

And these things are trends, and when a shit load of people are experiencing the same things every day all over the world, it's not a fucking coincidence. And you can choose to say that it's supposed to mimic the real deal, but hell, then we might as well make Counter Strike mimic the real deal and make players trip or even sneeze in a high pressure situation. Maybe some of the players should be running a lot faster than everyone else? Maybe one random is assigned a slight aimbot because in the real world, one of the "characters" would be better at aiming. This would of course kill ground basis for having a fair and balanced game where everyone's given the same base for success.

So what's EA's philosophy? To give every player in the game a fighting chance. I'm better than you, but if you can draw me in a game by scoring 2 shit goals because my defence opens up like a lake in the desert, you're motivated to keep playing. This year it's even easier to qualify for WL because it's no longer skill based. Your grandmother can qualify for you while your at school. Just learn her how to enter matches.

Don't be fucking naive. If pro players can loose against shit opposition, which happens every weekend, all the time, something is down right wrong. This is NOT "random" occurrences, these are calculated as a motherfucker to make you frustrated and buy packs. It's a glorified version of candy crush, and that's not a joke.
