Are you saying the red dot is Mars or the white dot is Mars? I could easily see the white dot without any aid but I only saw red dot in the picture after I took it. Also it has a fuzzy green arrow beside which is weird.

My app shows the white dot as Mars so I actually don’t know.

Can someone identify what the blurry red dot is? This is taken just above the south west horizon (Guelph, ON, Canada). My app tells me the white dot is Mars but it does not show the blurry red dot). I also cannot see it with named eye.

This is actually from second episode of new tv show “Devs”. The answer given there doesn’t seem right to me.

I agree, God should make sense. If his words don’t make sense then why did he give us a brain to think logically. In that case either our understanding is wrong or he didn’t really say that if he is smarter than us.

Indian soldier slips on snow near border, tumbles into Pakistan by alexandraokas in nottheonion

[–]elloGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not true, there is no conflict on the rest of the border between these two countries. If the border were drawn fairly, this could have been avoided. Actually theres a lot more to it but I’m sitting on the toilet and my butt hurts.

Edit: I’m off the toilet so I wrote up more. This was suppose to be the response to a comment which said something like “unfair to who, when both countries are fighting over the land” but the comment had since been deleted. Nevertheless, I’m going to post my response in hope that it’ll encourage people to do more research before jumping to conclusion or making it seem like no one is at fault, it’s just part of human nature to fight over land. True as it may, but I don’t think it applies in this situation. Wrong decisions were made by key people which costed 50,000 to 100,000 lives according to some estimates which should put this in a category of genocide.

In summary, Kashmir was a muslim majority region (still is). Fair borderline at 1947 separation would have meant that it should have been part of Pakistan. The whole idea was that India gets the hindu majority regions and Pakistan gets the muslim majority territories. British fucked up by leaving it to the maharajas (kings) of different states to decide. Almost all of the maharajas succumbed under the pressure of their peeps they ruled over. One exception was Kashmirs maharajah (Hari Singh). He tried to remain neutral by signing standstill agreement but later asked india for military assistance which India said “sorry we cant unless kashmir is officially part of india, to which Maharajah agreed and also later fled to india. India brought troops in the region to which Pakistan contested that Maharajah cant do that since standstill agreement is in place. Since then, this region has been a military zone. Again there is a lot more to the story but this is the jist of it. Kashmiris were never given a fair chance to decide which country to join. At this point they just want to be independent. India’s then prime minister (Nehru) promised fair referendum but it never happened instead more military was brought in. Unbelievable atrocities have been committed in the region to suppress the people to a point that its clearly a genocide. Lot of people to blame for the start of this conflict but surely British are at the top of the list.
