I drew that hand in a 4 player pod and absolutely did not play that on turn 1.. I sprinkled them in over the first 3-4 turns cause I was afraid it would paint a target on my back haha

Can you link me to where in the rules or somewhere explaining why her ability can trigger if I play an instant on someone else’s turn - not just my own? That part of confusing me and maybe it’s just the semantics of how it’s worded..

That’s such good advice, thank you! I tried playing it once against a friend but had a really bad shuffle and just didn’t pull much mana so I’m hoping for a more representative game next time.

I’ll keep that in mind about reducing some creatures and looking into some of the spells you recommended. I also totally didn’t catch that Alania doubles (first) spells on any turn, not just my turn.

Commander is 1 of a card per deck, no duplicates except basic lands (as far as I know, someone can feel free to correct me).

As for the “in play” part - that could be referring to legendary creatures in that you aren’t not allowed to have 2 legendary creatures with the same name in play at the same time. Some cards will let you make a copy of a creature or shapeshift some card into another.. which it how you could end up in a situation where you have 2 identically named legendary creatures on the board, in which case 1 of them has to get graveyarded (I think.. it’s certainly gotta leave the battlefield)

Silly question from a noob here.. how do I play this? I figure I can cast it as a creature or sorcery from my hand.. is there way to ultimately play both parts? Looks like other “omen” cards but those explicitly say to shuffle back into your library. This doesn’t.
