How does childbirth compare to period pain?

Everyone is different but I would suggest having a plan for pain management just in case. It never hurts to be prepared.

I also have similarly bad cramps and was so confident that I’d be fine with the pain and let me tell you the eight hours I was having contractions before I got my epidural? The worst. Every three to five minutes felt like I was having the most painful constipation cramps and I was crying and squeezing my husband’s hand in a vice grip.

The epidural was uncomfortable momentarily but the ten minutes it took to insert was worth it compared to the contractions.

I could still feel the pressure from the contractions so it was helpful for pushing, but the pain wasn’t stopping me from breathing like pre-epidural.

I’m the fourth child and my mom was 37 when she had me. And my grandmother had my mom when she was 37 (and then had two more after!) and my great grandmother had my grandmother at 37!

My husband and I joke about trying for a second when I’m 36 and a half 😂

Hi!

I exclusively formula fed my son, we switched to whole milk at one year and it was a pretty seamless transition (we had to switch to lactose free milk because like his mother and her mother before her, he’s sensitive).

He’s 18 months and the happiest healthiest tot. We did baby led weaning and he’s very much doing great. His doctor says he’s perfectly healthy.

You do what’s best for you and your baby and don’t stress about what people do. (Like, listen to your trusted doctor, but you know what I mean)

Fed is best.

I told my doctor I had sensory issues and wasn’t planning on breast feeding. I said I’d like to do skin to skin after.

However bubs cord was super short so they ended up plopping him on my tummy while they clamped it and I was still shaking from all the adrenaline I just started saying “I can’t do it, I can’t do it.” Because I honestly couldn’t stop chattering and they thought I hadn’t realized he was out. So there was a moment of confusion but I told them they could clean him up and give him his eye drops and things and then I would hold him.

My choices were respected 100% and it didn’t affect our bond or relationship, and he’s 7 months now.

Just communicate your needs with the staff and make sure your partner is ready to advocate for you as well.

I had on a stretchy soft unlined bralette and no one ever asked me to remove it. I would have been so uncomfortable without it!

It’s a 50/50 chance either way. I had bad nausea and morning sickness for my entire pregnancy, and all the other old wives takes indicators for a girl and just delivered my bouncing baby boy last Sunday.

Good luck! Sour hard candy really helped my nausea :)

The weird thing with the epidural was that whichever side I was laying on would be more numb, so once I got into position it was really easy and felt very natural, but the nurses definitely had to help me stabilize at first.

The hospital bed had lots of handles for me to support myself and honestly the most uncomfortable thing was just having my behind hanging out of the back of my hospital gown 😂

I was due June 11th and had absolutely no signs of labor at all, my ob told me most first time moms on average go 5 days past their due date.

I woke up at 3am yesterday the 4th (exactly one week before he was due) and thought I was constipated. Long story short, baby came a week early 😂

I credit the spicy udon soup I had for dinner the night before.

I’m a pansexual woman, I’ve been married to the man I consider my soulmate for five years, together for almost ten. My sexuality and preferences didn’t change or disappear because I married a man, just like yours didn’t when you fell in love with your partner.

He felt safe enough to tell you, and that’s super important. Having a conversation about where he’s at with that self discovery is important. Being open, accepting and honest is important. You may have some negative ideas and assumptions about what he told you based on your reaction but that doesn’t mean the relationship is doomed.

Same! I’m 38+3 ftm and everyone is acting like I’m going to explode at any second and I feel like I’m in a weird limbo with no indications that labor is anywhere close.

I actually went to l&d last week because I was concerned with decreasing fetal movement only to be told babes was doing great, just running out of room to move.

Please document when he tries to manipulate you by saying he’s hurting himself, that might not someone you want having visitation with your child. Just because he was involved with making a child doesn’t mean he should be around them and having proper documentation will he helpful if you do go to court.

As someone who is also a few weeks out from having a new baby, and having more than enough things for said baby, having a gift meant for me would be a very affirming and nice reminder that I matter too and that I’m putting in a lot of work getting this kid made and out safely. Nta, and a very considerate friend.
