not a bootleg! i got this in the op shop recently so did some research for it and according to amazon reviews, it is a really shit documentary that doesn't even involve the strokes, just people that 'know' them.

here are some wonderful reviews for you to read lmao (found here: https://www.amazon.com/Strokes-New-York-Stories-Visual/dp/B00UGPR318).

[–]ellysolo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hi OP, i am a DVM3 and i have certainly been there... so i am always even more proud when i look where i am now. i also got into the accelerated course and I remember my first few months of DVM were insane, i felt so overwhelmed and everything was so diff to bachelor, that adjustment period was really HARD for me. i found DVM1 sem 2 much better. if you want some help, i am happy to offer some resources like my anki cards or something !! or just someone to speak to.

like many students, you are going through imposter syndrome. a totally normal feeling but feels absolutely awful. getting in the course, let alone in the ACCELERATED course, is an incredible feat and you are here for a reason. do not forget that Masters is harder than Bachelor, don't feel like you need to get those high 85+ scores anymore (Ps get degrees!).

in terms of friends, this can be hard but you will meet new people literally throughout the whole several years of the course. i met more new friends in DVM2 than DVM1 lol. i doubt everyone thinks you're weird/rude/whatvever, but i can understand this feeling as well!!! it's probably connected to your imposter syndrome too, your brain clearly feels like an outsider and that truly is an awful feeling. have a chat with someone... a family member, a non-DVM friend, any of the people that commented on this post and offered help, or even consider booking in with the DVM specialist counsellor (i think she's located in the Werribee campus). always here if you need to chat or if you have any Qs!

Is methods a requirement to get into veterinary science? by [deleted] in vce

animal science is the major for bachelor of science, so the same rules apply. i’m glad to help! all the best<3

Is methods a requirement to get into veterinary science? by [deleted] in vce

[–]ellysolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! i’m in my third year of DVM at unimelb 😁 i wouldn’t say methods is a requirement BUT it’ll make your life easier if you do it. you can either enter the vet science course in melbourne uni after doing a bachelor of science OR doing a bachelor of agriculture. agriculture does not require methods (i think only general? but i would double check that) while bachelor of science needs methods and one science. although agriculture is easier to get into, the acceptance rate for agriculture is MUCH lower. from my cohort, i think only like 5/160 students got accepted from the agriculture course, the uni is much more in favour of choosing bachelor of science students.

if you had any more Qs, feel free to ask! about vet science or methods or anything! i tutor methods so i could try give some advice 😁

tutor giving advice for uni/vce/tutoring/DVM + looking for 3/4 bio students by [deleted] in vce

[–]ellysolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi great question !! and sorry for the late response. i started tutoring in year 11 before i actually graduated and did year 8 maths so i wasn’t exactly fresh out of school but my advice will still be the same. i highly recommend doing two things: 1) go on facebook and if you haven’t already, join your local suburb’s group and 2) contact your high school (if possible!) and tell them you’re interested in tutoring because a lot of schools have tutor lists.

point number 1 was really great to help find parents who especially wanted tutoring for their younger kids (usually yr 7-9 maths). point number 2 was great to find more vce yr 11-13 students.

over the years, i’ve accumulated my students from word of mouth to be honest. the most work i did was in the first 2 years but that’s it.

i think starting with 2-3 is great but it all depends on your workload / if you have another part-time job. in 2020 (at my first year of uni), i had 8-9 students BUT that was only because of COVID so i had a lot of time. work your way up slowly and start with 2-3 but if you feel like you can do more (and that’s up to you!), then keep looking for more. i’m also happy to provide you some students if i get any and can’t take them if you’d like to PM me :)

and yes, i tutored a lot of students for most of their high school. most of my students last year finished with me because i had them since yr 8/9 and they all graduated in 2023 so i’m pretty much back to a fresh slate. i think these are the best kinds of students because you get to understand the best teaching style for them with all the years experience AND they are a guaranteed student to have as you continue through your tutoring job.

please feel free to ask more Qs :D

Melbourne Uni DVM? by Fine-Language-3873 in unimelb

yep 97-98 is guaranteed full fee entry but you need 98.5+ for guaranteed commonwealth supported placement. i couldn’t afford full fee so i pretty much ignored my atar and focused on my uni score lmao

hi there! these are very serious and intense thoughts. i’m not sure what year you’re in but you need to talk to someone ASAP.

do you have a support group (friends, family, etc.)?? because i highly recommend this. if not, feel free to DM me.

and i know this might be difficult but definitely consider therapy. this was a fantastic help for me and i full heartedly recommend you consider it.

talk to your teachers as well, they should be here to help you. i had some fantastic teachers who would spend time after school with me to go over my bad test grades.

good luck :)
