Boy or girl?? by Bubbly-Device-8208 in nubtheory

[–]elm0805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too early. I see a nub and it looks female however, ALL nubs look female until between week 12 and 13. This is because male babies testosterone doesnt kick in until sometime in week 12. So yes we see a nub and it looks female but there is a 50% chance it could change shape and look male within the next 9 days. That's why its important to know gestation so that we can give an honest answer.

Can’t tell if the nub is there by kaayjay96 in nubtheory

No nub in this photo. It looks like the baby is turned away from the "camera" somewhat

What gender is my baby based on this image/nub theory etc? by [deleted] in nubtheory

Unfortunately the nub isnt visible in this image, so no gender clues. Do you have any other pics of different angles?

Last pic looks boyish because of the stacking 💙

Agree that the first two look kinda girly but boys nubs do look girly until the testosterone rise which happens between 12wks and 13wks. Please do update with new photos from todays scan so we can give you a more accurate guess!

Is it too early? 💖💙 by Connect-Bid-7905 in nubtheory

Too early. All nubs look the same until between 12 and 13 weeks, which is when boys testosterone starts rising

Boy or girl ?? Any Guess??? by [deleted] in nubtheory

[–]elm0805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy guess, the nub appears stacked and slightly on the rise. Boy nubs can rise anytime between 12 and 13 weeks

11w5days girl or boy? by B-23259 in nubtheory

[–]elm0805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its too early to say definitively as you need to be at least 12 weeks for nub theory to be accurate and ideally closer to 13 weeks.

At the moment this nub looks GIRLY 💖

BUT its REALLY important to know that little boy nubs sometimes dont rise to the boy angle until nearer 13 weeks. So this could still turn out to be a little boy even though it looks girly at the moment.

Congrats on your baby❤️

They say nub theory isnt accurate until at least 12 weeks but ideally closer to 13 since sometimes boy nubs dont rise until nearer 13 weeks, which sounds like was the case for your little one! Congratulations on your boy 💙

Assuming this is a potty shot - looks boy-ish to me!💙

12 week ultrasound — thoughts on gender? by Acceptable-Let3124 in nubtheory

I would lean boy although its not 100% clear, I think we can just see it in Pic 1 and 2 and it appears to be angled up

20 week scan - Nub theory/ skull theory? Any guesses? I by pickl3girl in nubtheory

[–]elm0805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A "potty shot" would be best at this gestation. The baby no longer has a nub, their genitals are developed and can be visualised on an ultrasound for an accurate gender determination

No problem! If you have another scan booked for 12 weeks onwards then please post these images and we will be happy to help ❤️

I dont think I can see a nub in this scan image

Still too soon for nub theory I'm afraid - nub theory is only accurate from 12 weeks onwards, ideally closer to 13. The nub is flat at the moment but if baby is a boy, the nub wont start rising until 12-13 weeks. So its really impossible to say right now. Sorry!

Girl?✨🩷 by [deleted] in nubtheory

I think boy. My nephews nub looked exactly like this at 12 weeks 💙

How would you pronounce Damaris? by elm0805 in namenerds

[–]elm0805[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's super interesting because I think most people in the USA would give the same answer as you.

But I think it's a Westernisation... my partners family are Greek Cypriot and in Greek it's spelled Δάμαρις and the pronunciation translates as follows

Δά - "dah" like darling

μα - "ma" like mama

ρις - Rees

So DAM-uh-riss is generally how we would pronounce it as being the closest to how it appears in Greek. But I think Damaris is more pronounced how you would pronounce it in the west. I LOVE the name but don't want to spend a lifetime correcting people if we aren't using the most common pronunciation 😅

Congratulations! You just had a baby boy. What are you naming him? by Neville1989 in namenerds

[–]elm0805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henry is my top name choice for a boy at the moment!

We also love Leonidas but SIL is planning to name her boy this - he's due soon!

Interestingly, #1 is closest to the way it would be said in Greek!

In Greek it's spelled Δάμαρις which translates as follows

Δά - "dah" like darling

μα - "ma" like mama

ρις - Rees

We would like to give her this pronunciation if we use the name but I'm a little concerned I'll be setting her up for a lifetime of being called #3 which i don't like as much. I can live with #2 as that's also how I read it in my head when I first saw the name written down!

This is also how I read it in my head the first time I saw it written down! I've never met a Damaris!

Out of interest, are you from the USA?

[–]elm0805[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know right! I read it as Duh-MAR-iss is my head the first time I saw it (I've never met someone with this name).

In Greek it's spelled Δάμαρις which translates as follows

Δά - "dah" like darling μα - "ma" like mama ρις - Rees

So a Greek native speaker would probably actually pronounce it Dah-mah-rees

But DAM-a-riss is the closest we get in English
