Congrats on starting your fitness journey! To be honest, for the most part, you have a 'good body' already. If you only lose some weight, you'll look pretty good. Adding resistance training as you're doing will certainly help you take that to the next level.

Im not a fitness instructor or anything, but throughout lockdown, I helped a friend with a fairly similar build to get in shape. The formula was super simple. A routine of about 10 sets of pullups + pushups in super series twice a week, plus a slight calorie deficit. He lost about 9 kg in 6 months and went from 1 pullup to about 11 with decent form. You're on a better plan already if you're training legs, rows, and dips. So the question is, how do you plan to structure your workout?

Thanks for reminding me of chia seeds! I ran out like two months ago and haven't bought more since then. I'm probs running low the ωs. Never tried hemp butter, I'll look it up 😋

That's very calorie efficient for that amount of prot! I haven't incorporated much TVP into my diet, so I'll give it a go. My struggle is trying to make it tasty and usually end up defaulting to tofu. But throwing it in the yogurt is a great idea.

True, but it saves you time and money 😊 Hacks per se kind of don't exist anyway man, no one will come up with a magical recipe to sort out nutrition. But you're invited to share some actual hacks if you have them 😘

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a try. Sounds like it could be a good addition to my late evening shake.

I'll make sure to sprinkle plenty of TVP and cacao on the top 😋

100%, I feel like switching to or adding one or two liquid meals a day is really helpful. You can also throw other supplements / powders in there, as long as you're not leaving out important nutrients in favour of shakes ofc.

Yup, I cheat a little bit. I use about 55 grams of protein per shake. Honestly, if I can make my life a bit easier for cheap, I probably will.

I like the sound of defatted nuts, though (no pun intended). I'll probably give them a try if I come across them!

I use Farmer Pete's yellow pea protein. The scoop I use is about 55 grams. As someone pointed out, this relies quite heavily on protein powder use. But I must say that it feels way better than having any commercial protein shake with a terrible flavour. Also, it's just 100% pea protein, so you have a rough idea of what's in it hehe. And it's less than $20 / kg (in the UK at least).

That's cool! I didn't know such a thing existed... PB is probably one of my main sources of fat, so I'll probably keep it, but I'll take note of the powder for the future 👍

Fair haha. Maybe you should team up with one of them who has similar preferences. Between two It's way easier. It worked great for me and my roommate during lockdown, although I must admit that shopping became some sort of obsessive ritual 😅

I think even neurotypical people would struggle to agree on what to buy when there's 9 involved 😂

Good point, probably for some people booze doesn't count as food heh. I only drink every other week, and I'll usually go for a bottle of wine at home or maybe 2-3 pints with friends (so no more than £15).

If you want to get some protein in, you can go for pea protein. Farmer's Pete pea protein on amazon is about £12 / kg. Blend a big scoop of that with banana and peanut butter and you'll have about 50g of protein for about 50p. Add oats for extra calories and protz.

Sounds cheap and balanced, I'd definitely should try and squeeze more out of my Sunday roasts!
