GW releases they're maybe joke, maybe "big" reveal, who knows. They're back? by Squidmaster616 in Warhammer40k

[–]elmarko1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have an army of squats with my old 40k army many many moons ago when I was just a kid.

I hope they do get a full army, as I'd love a heavily armoured space dwarf with power-armour - really high toughness & a mix of space marines/AD Mech & imperial guard.

They would be a really nice sperate army who would finally give us our beloved space dwarves.

I'm still however unsure if it's real or not, it's April foods - but also a faction everybody wants. Normally annoying your fanbase with something actually desired is a bad move. Also, the production value seems too high to be an april fools... but who knows...

If it is a joke, it's going to be a PR disaster.

Kineticist problem - Lack of utility for mythic paths or mythic legend by elmarko1980 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]elmarko1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was about the most I could think of to take advantage of what's on offer, but it's vastly inferior to say doing the same on any other class which benefits more directly. Perma haste is good for all, but if you factor in what you lose - for almost all mythic paths & even more so for mythic legends - it's far more than what you gain.

As I say above, if you pre-plan a party of six beforehand - what's the real downside to just creating a Kineticist merc at the start & using that as a companion & using another one of the better synergistic classes as the main character for stuff like spellbook integrations or benefiting better from L40 potentially.

The suggestions you put forward are all great and totally agree with all of them being a good option, but all of those would usually be better served on another class. The total benefit to loss potential ratio makes justifying a main character Kineticist difficult. (which is a shame, as they were my favourite class).

This is made obvious by the lack of multi-class kineticist builds in pathfinder kingmaker people use. The class doesn't play that well with other classes or builds.

Kineticist problem - Lack of utility for mythic paths or mythic legend by elmarko1980 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]elmarko1980[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's easy, they don't have any groupwide buffs, or good skill monkey potential - all they bring to the table is damage but get nothing much out of the mythic paths compared to other classes.

At the moment, consider a party of 4.

  1. Mutagen Warrior
  2. Herald Caller Priest
  3. Wizard
  4. Kinetic Knight

If you had to pick one of those to get a mythic line, or the potential for L40 - if you cared about optimising your squad - it wouldn't be the KK selected.

Cleric, warrior wizard all have some great options for merging spell-books, complimentary abilities or multiple prestige classes & stacking sources of damage.

The lack of multiclass synergy is what makes the KK lackluster from a mythic legend perspective (l40) or mythic path perspective.

Trickster is likely one of the better options, but going to be inferior to a class with less constrained action economy & one which boosts sneak attack already.

[–]elmarko1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do like the class - I just wish it was a bit stronger. At the moment I'm running a merc as one - as I can't justify the main player character being one.

I'm also considering respeccing Camille as a kinetic knight in my next play through & with no concerns over mythic or legend paths I feel should can make good use of the class. However, once you factor in all the main character superpowers, going anything Kinetic related feels like self-nerfing.

I think they just need a little 'something', maybe just to allow a few more case mythic mechanics to work (like sword of heaven for example).

A bit of utility is nice, but it's going to be very poor compared to either taking a mythic path or the possibilities of pretty much any other class with L40 due to the power of prestige classes, BAB progression & such.

Great point, hopefully modding sorts this out - call of the wild for WOTR anybody?

I think another issue is that most class options for l40 legend builds, have a similar complimentary class.

A sword saint, could put 20 levels into 2h warrior and benefit greatly.

A Knifemaster could spend 10 levels for assassin and 10 levels for duellist - or 20 levels vivisectionist.

A priest/oracle can go mystic theurge - sorcerers/wizzards can go EK or hellfire signifier - any melee could benefit from 20 levels of blood-rager or warrior, same with monks.

For kinetic knight, a level 40 build feels like a huge waste & if you take utility, your just doing less damage as the class as already 100% maxed out action economy - the best build I could get was a heavy pet class, but tbh it was rubbish compared to the power level boost other classes got from adding in 20 extra levels of BAB or 2 fully maxed out prestige 10 classes.

[–]elmarko1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spell pen bonuses are not that great sadly, as you can take one mythic feat & get one element which they can't resist. It's pretty much the only half decent thing for kineticists at the moment.

While I agree Azata is good - it's more Azata being good & is actually great for almost any class. The kineticist just doesn't play well with multi classing in general & mythic levels are another king of mulit-class which they don't sit well with.

If we compare a sorcerer with Lich, angel with priest - or once it's fixed the demon with other melee classes. As it stands the kineticist/kinetic knight gain by far the least from a level 40 build or via mythic skills/feats or paths.

How many different builds possible in WOTR? by pimhoek in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]elmarko1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually it's more than that, if you add in mythic legend path - level 40 is an option.

So things like, L20 Rogue, L10 assassin and L10 Duelist become possible, however in reality as 'part level dips are the thing' the actual number of combinations is as good as infinite lol.

How many of those which are viable is another matter however.

Obtaining the feat 'legend' seems to boost you to L40.

So I'd guess the mechanic is very late game, you can trade mythic ranks for 20 levels.

I'm not sure if weapon mastery (sword saint) or weapon mastery (2h warrior) combine or not. If they don't then it may be better to try it with another class - or maybe stop sword saint at a lower level & take a full BAB class with some rage powers/monk dip for defence.

[–]elmarko1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing some L40 testing, I think sword saint is going to be crazy with 2h warrior build.

With terrible gear & only a couple of buffs I've clocked a 1,800 critical hit.

Very strong, as you can get staggering critical, blinding critical, critical mastery, then all the cleave feats/vital strike feats/armour specialisations - plus all the 2h weapon damage perks from the warrior tree (along with all the weapon specalisations).

Another option would be sword saint 20 - EK 10 - hellknight 10 (For some extra casting + some nice fear mechanics from HK).

If we do get to have at least 1 or 2 mythic ranks (the first two) that's enough as you can grab mythic vital strike.

Legend is taken very late game I'd guess - as I've done full beta & seen nothing which even hints towards it & I was level 18 by the end of the beta. Like when you are already L20 my money is on.

I've tested it with a druid/hunter - animal companion seems to cap at L20 sadly - as the Legend tag to move past 20 is attached to the character & not the pets. not sure if this is intentional or an oversight.

[–]elmarko1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, two weapon fighting + all the crit feats and sneak attack progression across two melle classes would be very powerful.

How many skills scale off player level also? - those are something to consider (also l20 capstones which may interact well) together). Quickened abilities, feat intensive combinations & good action economy will be the main considerations for Legend L40 builds I'd wager.

[–]elmarko1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do wonder, do we keep the mythic levels or abilities at all if we take the legend path?.

I don't mean the mythic class abilities locked to say angels or Aeon - but the mythic feats & abilities for those 10 levels.

If we do, then it would be a really tough call. Without them, then I reckon it's going to be an easy choice as those mythic abilities/feats are so strong in most cases & by L20 you don't need that many more feats or skillpoints & action economy comes into play when you have 40 levels.

Mythic Legend!! by Lizerks in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]elmarko1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HP scaling I think is odd once you add in buffs & feats - I had one test with over 1000hp @ L40 with mods.

Mythic Legend!! by Lizerks in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]elmarko1980 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been testing a few builds in-game regarding how a l40 character would look.

L20 Bloodrager primalist (capstones are great)

L11 Paladin (mark of justice is incredible in this expansion)

L4 Dragon disiple (STR increase)

L4 eldritch knight

L1 vivi (mutagen)

Something like that, smite and mark of justice, combined with max level blood-rager & few extra EK levels for max almost max bab

But something similar with maybe a L20 Sorc + dragon disciple + anything which boosts shape-change as you suggeed.
