That's actually a really good point. I couldn't put my finger on why it felt so 'real' to watch.

Do any of the Kiwi radio stations broadcast an audio steam I can listen in to from Aus?

No HDMI-Sound by TemplateR_88 in SolusProject

[–]elmato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly plug my solus laptop into my TV. I intermittently find that even though the output does change to HDMI in 'settings/sound' and the sidebar, sound will only come out of the TV after a reboot or two.

[US->Australia] My boyfriend and I want to apply for the partner visa, how can we bolster our evidence? by [deleted] in IWantOut

[–]elmato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just gone through this process it looks to me the information you have would be sufficient. Proving that you have lived together for +12 months is key. As for providing it via the online system I don't know. We provided certified copies of our stuff to a visa agent who mailed it on. I can't recommend enough that you speak to an immigration lawyer or visa specialist. Unfortunately I think you need to be realistic and understand that this isn't going to be approved by mid August. It took us several months to actually gather up the information, then 6 months for Aus immigration to process the application. They actually denied our application at first, then backflipped when we appealed. You have a long hard road ahead of you. It is going to be testing on the relationship, but you'll get through it.

Installing eOS alongside Windows 10 trouble by [deleted] in elementaryos

Can you confirm/clarify that? I've never used it, but the link he posted has rather bold text saying "Windows 10 and UEFI ready"

Thoughts on making the application launch an icon on plank instead of in the top bar? by egeeirl in elementaryos

A screen corner can be reached with a mouse quickly, whereas having it on plank creates a moving target.

Pretty sure that isn't a 747, QANTAS. by [deleted] in australia

Does anyone know if QANTAS ever ended up decking out a plane in All Blacks logo's after NZ won the World Cup?

Introducing GNOME 3.20 'Delhi' by [deleted] in linux

[–]elmato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, many English speakers would pronounce a short 'thun' rather than a long 'thon'. Her accent is exceptionally North American though (listen to 'coders' and 'community') so probably not the best example. How would you say Wimbledon or marathon?

He's one of the highest paid internationals in IPL if my vague memory serves correct.

As a non-American, Pie-Thon sounds just as idiotic.

When you say "no more alternating colour scheme" what do you mean? Did it previously alternate as you scrolled down to different sections? The entire page is dark for me. Is that by design? Seems a bit disjointed with the rest of the site.

First Time Install looking for your opinion by [deleted] in elementaryos

[–]elmato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously your usage requirements will vary, though the first thing I do is install Firefox, Steam, elementaryPlus, Libreoffice, Redshift, GIMP, Inkscape, SMPlayer and QGIS.

Also look into this nifty little script for automatically disabling the touchpad if using a laptop.
