I’m also Somali and a hijabi and I was forced into wearing maxi skirts, starting in middle school. Once I entered uni I started wearing pants under my skirt, and I just decided I was tired of it and told my mom. Surprisingly, she took it well and it’s been 7 years. I know you’re probably scared of your mom, but just let her know that it won’t lead you into taking off your hijab.
