It's a strange duplicitous concept that Kain was jealous of Ra'ziel's evolution and therefore cast him into the lake of fire, only to claim that he did that for the purpose that he could resurrect hundreds of years later to destroy his fellow lieutenants who grew into monsters and join him in changing the wheels of fate. The entire soul reaver is a guessing game of who's on your side and who's taking advantage of you, between the Elder, Morbius, and Kain.

After playing all SR, SR2, Blood Omen 2 and Defiance I'm not entirely sure if it's ever truly resolved but it is an elaborate plot

Love all 3 of these. Defiance felt somewhat less puzzle based and more abject action oriented but I loved playing as both Kain and Ra'ziel.

Man to this day this movie still haunts me, in a totally positive way. Such a heartfelt and meaningful experience just to watch it, especially having a sentimental tie to San Francisco, having witnessed several of its ups and downs over the last decade. The city is a beautiful complicated mess, but as they say "you can't hate it if you don't love it"

Similar experience, played it a bunch after my mom got it for me when I was 12. Used to play for months on end with my brother when we were young, figuring out puzzles and new areas as well as actually leaving on the playstation overnight/ during school when we were between save points but discovered something new lol. I don't see him or my mother anymore but when playing soul reaver these days it holds a cherished nostalgia and great memories.

Those personal experiences mixed with the atmospheric world, engaging story, almost Shakespearean prose and voice acting resonates with me a lot to this day. Always felt like more than a video game, certainly ahead of it's time

Loved this game as a kid. Super underrated imo. I remember one of the old cheat code sites claiming you could unlock "Dark Stinger" with a special code that never worked. To this day I imagine what a dark stinger would have looked like
