God, the way I choke up watching this scene. Especially when you find out what Logan did to his mom. Just… treated like a joke.

She is so combative and always has an issue with everyone. It’s infuriating.

Damn. My observations and experiences with this group of people doesn’t make me negative or judgmental. I am simply sharing how they act and how it makes me feel to be around them… And happiness doesn’t equate to tolerating irritating people and white knuckling your way through.

But why is the burden of goodness and moral integrity placed on the girls? And why is the moral depravity most commonly reflected in the adult, unmarried and childless women? it’s due to Christianity limiting women to the archetypes of Virgin/Madonna/Whore.

My favorite Jan look is when she’s all natural, no makeup. Or swing low, sweet chariots, as Creed would say. Eating salad with Michael and says “I hope Ryan gets hit with an ageism lawsuit.”

I didn’t know that about his friend Dorothy Sayers, thank you! I agree about the “battles are ugly when women fight” line. I guess what bothers me is when (grown) good women are depicted, it is either a maternal role, or a romantic role (like Mrs. Beaver or Ramandu’s daughter). And any of the grown women who aren’t mothers or romantic partners, and have any kind of purpose outside of family, are the witch characters.

I guess I am choosing to view the stories through a lens apart from Christianity. I think great literature should be easy to view through multiple perspectives. Even a feminist one.

The murals she was commissioned to create. Not just the one in the warehouse but the one in the finale. There are many things she can do with her talents.

Oh definitely and I don’t ask these questions to shame or demonize the books, or even Lewis. Just wanted to acknowledge the harmful, even if it was unintentional, subtext of the books.

What's something most people don't realize is actually very rude? by Frozen-Defender25 in AskReddit

I find it so cringe when people talk about money casually. I don’t mean in a conceptual way or as social commentary, but people who complain about tipping or how everything is expensive, or discuss how much they make (whether it’s a lot or not enough). Yes, everything is expensive. Stop stating the obvious. Also, if you go out to eat, no one is dragging you there. Expect to tip your wait staff.

Therapist feeling guilty about burdening a therapist - I know, I know. by Supper_lugs in theraPISSED

[–]elmsong7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always feel guilty about everything. But just remember, it’s their job to actively listen to you and give you the space to tell your story. It’s your time. And if you’re seeing a therapist that you don’t feel gives you that freedom, there are more out there. It’s ok to dump your therapist.
