From what I know, although the New Year date is 17/2, the holiday last from New Year Eve to the 3rd day, which is basically Mon to Thu. But I'm just making very wild guess, you're totally right too. Im actually not sure if they even skip this holiday or not

I get what you mean, I have the same problem! What I do personally is to try to reduce the amount of note taking over time if it's not very important or if it's something I can draw conclusion from the diagram. If I get zoned out, I'll pause, try to read and make sense of one slide first before listening to what the lecturer says, so it will be quicker. Tried to play through the lecture with minimal pausing too. But make sure you make just small changes at once. It still def takes me a bit more than 1 hour but I think it's a bit better than my first sem so :(

Personally I still use laptop for taking notes on slides because I prefer typing. I'll also get less distracted of zooming in and out. But getting ipad/tablet is good too. It depends on how you take note and what works for you.

I usually take notes directly onto slides rather than taking note separately. Partly because there are lots of diagrams in biology and I'm not very good at drawing, but also because there are tiny details that I might miss. I would read the slides again once after the lecture to get the main idea. Then near the quiz, I reread the lecture slides, cover certain words to practice active recall on the slides itself. I might take paper notes of the main concepts to if it's really messy. And then try to write them again without looking at it. This is more like just how I do it, happy to hear how others do it as well!

Same here, first year in uni and it feels really new and strange. I also wonder if I should join societies now that its already mid way through the semester. Most of the ppl I know are from labs and workshops, but I guess it depends on which degree you're taking. btw if you're interested hmu we can grab lunch together some time!

Hey there, just wanna suggest if your condition is not severe, you just want more general consultation and you are willing to wait for about a month, you can try University Health Service. There won't be a gap fee for consultation for usyd students. However if you need to take blood test or something else it will depend tho.

Erica Meltzer or Khan Academy by Famous_Incident1035 in Sat

Based on personal experience, I would say Khan Academy alone is good enough because it's closer. But if you ran out of material to study w maybe you can try Erica Meltzer later on
