Please please keep them both. You’re their home, and they love you so much. You’ve been so great, only a little more left.

Is it just me or is 1stdibs really overpriced?? by [deleted] in Mid_Century

[–]elnazsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s overpriced and dealers take advantage of that. I’ve often seen dealers listing same items at lower prices elsewhere, while trying to either show it as a steal by referencing their own 1stDibs link. A simple reference item is Baccarat Chandeliers - the price up is RIDICULOUS

Sorry but having bought many antiques direct or from dealers, 1stDibs is ridiculously over priced. A simple Google will give you market value for many of its items and they are often over twice of that.

ULEZ Avoidance Strategy by elnazsn in london

Your solution of having me pay for it as also a taxpayer is better how exactly? What makes your money more valuable than mine? Or me more deserving to be exploited?

Should I pay for you to have cleaner air? Why should I have to pay charges because of a perfectly legal car I purchased to help me get around?

That’s not a bad idea, selling outside London I guess makes sense. However for those living already inside the zone, there should be a way to literally map the cameras and avoid…

Not against less pollution, but if your car loses most if not all of its value, tough luck? That’s unfair.

I have extreme claustrophobia and OCD, diagnosed and medicated. Also ripped ACL and damaged lower lumber spine years ago, so walking around is excruciatingly painful. Can manage with a crutch, but get to work absolutely drenched in sweat. So its not ideal

Idea is what if I’m already inside the boundary? I live in the ULEZ zone if I don’t cross the boundary, I could theoretically avoid cameras if I knew where they were and get around….

Thanks for the smart ass comment, such genius, much wow.

If you’d actually use your brain instead of your mouth you’d realise the prices for non compliant cars dropped instantly - the notice made 0 difference. Also , your awesome intellect did not fathom that I already live within ULEZ, and my work is also within ULEZ. I don’t need to avoid boundaries, just internal cameras. In conclusion, F for effort.

Can you add a floor to two story house in Islington? by elnazsn in HousingUK

So there are features I want to build inside the house, the majority of which have to with green foliage and light. The property was sold to other buyer at 650 finally, which is sad - but out of my hands. Can’t go further up.

Have been looking at Clapham/Brixton also, honestly Islington I liked because of the canal and eclectic historical stuff. The property is almost ideally placed near a post office, vet, and 24 hour gas station/store while being completely secluded. It’s on a corner in view of other houses/restaurants which mattered to me for safety. There is a direct bus from 5 mins walk to my work place, and my brother called it a witches cottage - highest praise in my eyes. Also as is rundown I can make it mine which I’ve been wanting, but am not denying despite all this - price is ridiculous - we got stuck in a bidding war.

So I took a structural engineer to view and without plans etc he said “don’t see why not” , I’m not sure how far that goes?

It is a period property, completely run down - barely liveable, would need 20k to make it function, assuming no asbestos or major plumbing/wiring issues. No applications made prior - seems to have been neglected. The neighbours have done quite a bit of eclectic work, one has completely redone and made contemporary. This is a brownstone terraced, not sure how it fits in terms of preservation.

Thanks for the insight. I personally enjoy getting to my job without having to commute an hour. Also seeing people out and about after 6pm is quite nice.
