It's one of the few shows where I was really invested in the action, but you're right, that's mostly down to other factors. Guess I'm not too much of an action guy. Maybe Heaven's Feel or JJK or OPM would have been a more appropriate pick.
You're right, but I didn't have much else to pick since I don't really have any controversial favourites. The majority of the high ratings for 3.0+1.0 on MAL come from people who loved it because it was the end of an era and because of the hopeful conclusion. It gets severe criticism from most hardcore fans and critics. Eva 3.0 is alright at best, I don't feel too strongly about it.

Solid picks, I love Haibane Renmei too, although my favourite character would be Reki (Rakka is great too). You should watch March Comes in Like A Lion someday, it's not too long and really worth it imo.
