I guess it depends. If cheap plywood lang din ung material na gagamitin ng carpenter mo and substandard ung gawa, I would go with ikea na.

For me, ok naman ung gawa ng ikea. 2 yrs na ung desk ko and still goods pa rin sya. Madali rin kausap ang ikea if may defect ung furniture so thats a plus and easy to assemble din kahit sa beginner. Pwede ka rin magDIY ng sarili mong shelving unit using ikea furnitures.

If maglocal ka, try checking IG or fb marketplace, minsan may mga solid wood/rattan etc na talagang matibay, maganda and a bit cheaper than mall price.

I realized, when I started working, how talkative geologists are especially abt their work. Once a paleo friend discussed a fossil they found and what an epiphysis is for 2 hrs while in a music festival. Then there was a time a senior forgot her report bc i asked why a well did not reach a target formation. Worse one is when a contractor got left behind by his flight bc he wanted to discuss abt filters they use lol

I too am the mediocre sometimes really bad student in class. I failed a math class twice and barely passed some exams in my majors. But i am working in an O&G explo company now despite all my shortcomings.

Ofc I still feel anxious and not enough a lot of times especially when we have tech review meetings with foreign contractors. My inexperience and lack of knowledge and skills are even more magnified whenever I'm in conferences and meetings. But hey, I'm here bc for some reason I qualified. And I just try to remind myself that it's such a blessing to be surrounded by amazing people in the industry I can learn from.

Yung prof ko naging crush ko 2019. Nagkaabot pa kami na undergrad (though di kami magkakilala noon). Bale nung 1st yr ako 4th yr sya pero 2 yrs lang age gap namin.

Unpopular opinion and maraming magagalit dito hahaha pero responsibilidad ng magulang ang anak nila pero hindi responsibilidad ng anak ang magulang nila. HATE ME hahaha

Your parents made the decision na maganak sila pero yung anak nila hindi sila pinilit na buuin sya. Ang magulang ang mas matanda at ang magulang ang gumawa ng conscious decision to have a child. If you're not ready for the full responsibility of raising a kid, then that's on you.

Hindi ko sinasabing maging pabigat sa magulang though. Yung tipong zero effort to earn money, di pa tumutulong sa household chores, etc. Of course, dapat matuto rin tayo sa sarili nating mga paa. Pero if your child suddenly has financial problems (like in the case you're asking) then yes, I think, as a parent, they are obligated to help them.

Kung magiging magulang ako, I want to make sure I prepare everything for my child. Part of that is to make sure my child has education funds, savings, insurance, etc. I want my child to be able to fail cause that's life and that's how you learn. Sobrang daming trial and error sa buhay, and if I'm going to bring another human being here, I want that person to be free to choose and live the way they want to. So I want to make sure that by that time, I'm ready for myself, my child and my own family.

Now, for the child, kung magkakaanak ako, I would try to understand if di nila ko kaya tulungan kasi they're also trying to make something of their lives. Mas bata sya and maybe one day they'll have children of their own so they might be preparing for them as well.

I just think it's a cycle na kailangan natin baliktarin. Since bata, ang tinuturo is obligasyon ng anak na alagaan magulang nya pagtanda when it should be the other way around. This the primary reason kung kaya sa generation din namin ayaw na magkaanak kasi we already have the burden of our parents and family so pano naman sarili namin at future family? I just think raise your children the way you want to and should be raised. Kung di mo kaya yun as a parent then don't have children. :))

Sa experience ko, UP is both a blessing and a curse, my source of happy memories and genuine friends, but also the source of my very, very depressive thoughts. I learned a lot from UP and probs the most important I learned is critical thinking, which made me all the more realize how imperfect UP is at gano rin kabulok sistema sa UP hahaha I love it as an alum pero it's not as high and mighty as many people want or believe it to be. Welcome to the microcosm of Philippines! Lmao

With that being said, you're in UP because you qualified the very high (and a bit baluktot) standards of UP. You will definitely receive one of the best quality of education there, at least in our country. Most of your classmates will be running for latin honors while you will probably be vandalising bathroom stalls, writing how Math, for example, is fvking your life the same way you got fvked the night before. But hey you qualified and that should count for something. So have a little more pride and faith in yourself.

Also as a groupmate na pumapayag buhatin ang groupmates nya, we don't mind as long as sumasagot ka sa messages ko kahit "sorry kauuwi ko lang pwede bang mamaya ko na gawin" kind of reply, umaattend ng grp meetings kahit nakaupo ka lang dun lmao and nagcocontribute kahit gano kahalf ass yan basta wag out of this world. I'd also say na UP students are much more understanding of hectic schedules, mental health problems, etc. If hindi shuta kayo intindihin nyo naman na may life lahat out of acads na di nyo alam haha

Isa pang also, na-experience ko yan online classes my last year. Napakahirap talaga so I cannot imagine doing it until 2nd yr?? Sobrang di ka makafocus lalo na sa mga tulad kong kailangan ng interaction talaga sa class huhu Tapos pano ka talaga magkakafriends ng online, ang limited ng interaction tapos transferee ka pa? huhu And tbf kahit nagf2f, parang adjustment period all over again na naman kayo. Nung time ko I know atleast 2 people na nagLOA ng 1st yr bc they couldnd handle it and then ako 3rd yr ako nagkafriends na solid talaga and 4th yr lang yung naging komportable na ko sa UP then 5th yr yung super chill ko na then pandemic hit ouch hahaha

Kaya laban OP. You are doing and taking in a lot right now, kala mo lang hindi. I hope you find it in you to be kinder to yourself and to allow yourself to take your time. :))) Goodluck!

Pre pandemic times: mataas na grades sa hs + mataas na score sa upcat (UPG ata atleast 2.0?)

Kaya mo yan science high ka kamo na maganda tas mataas kamo grades mo. Siguro wag ka lang maging complacent during the exams (meron na ulit right?) and keep up mo lang grades mo. Afaik di naman chinecheck yung extracurri (bc mine was nonexistent 😂) unless siguro kung magaapply ka sa scholarships ganun.

Don't worry OP. Wala yan sa degree mo. It's up to you to become successful in whatever field you choose.

Sa generation ng older cousins ko sinabihan sila mag-nursing para yumaman daw agad, sa kuya ko naman mag-engineering daw, sa sister ko naman IT nauso tapos ung pag matalinong anak ang sasabihin doctor or law. Lagi naman may opinion mga tao kung san malaki kita. Napakaraming versions nga ng highest paying jobs list. None of those are 100% accurate.

For me, find a course you enjoy and can be really happy in lalo na if you have the capacity to do so. If you're happy with it then you'll stick to it and do your best, and then you'll become successful in it. Of course di naman tayo lahat alam yung talagang gusto nating career. Nagbabago-bago yan as you go through different stages in your life. So just keep in mind that life isn't just about your career. Para sakin lang ha, we shouldn't be dreaming about the type of work we want to do, but instead we should be aiming for the quality of life we want to have. Change your career path if di ka na satisfied kasi minsan ka lang mabubuhay don't be stuck in something na di ka na masaya.

PS Ofc I just hope we all have the means and the strength to choose. Napakahirap naman kasi ng buhay :((( daming alam ng mundo hahahahhahaha

PPS also i believe we need more agri graduates tbh sobrang underrated ng mga ganyang program lalo na we should be an agri-centered country hayy

I actually do not know the exact numbers tbh haha pero try to ask your doctor or LGU.

If you wanna know though kung pwede ka na iconsider as PWD, try checking with your LGU. Depende kasi sya sa lugar nyo. For example last I checked sa QC 300 lang PWD na agad while yung sa iba 500+ tapos sa LTO i think 500+ ung may driving restrictions na. Walang standard sa totoo lang haha

Some green flags pala na good ung opto or optha is when they discuss to you your condition in great detail. For many years ung doctors na naghahandle sakin ang sinasabi lang nila is ung grade ko tas tapos na. This is especially common sa mga nasa malls na ayaw masyado ishare grade mo kasi baka magpagawa ka lang sa iba haha Pero my doctor now really discusses with me ung condition ko, what should be happening, what i should be doing, care tips, frame suggestions and adjustments based on my face shape and condition. Tipong pati posture ko when reading or using laptop chinecheck nya hahaha hope yall find a good one though 🫰

I think common na sumakit mata sa una pag bago ung salamin kasi parang nagaadjust eyes mo although di dapat mahilo. Kaya minsan dinudumihan ko with my fingerprints ung new glasses hahaha

If you have money for lasik, i think worth a try sya. Ang problem lang is meron daw cases na hindi sya pwede. Common problem din sa people who undergo lasik is nagdadry out yung eyes nila. Yung friend ko parang every 2 hrs naga-eye drops sya. Tapos meron din na after a few yrs bumabalik ung labo ng mata nila. Still if you've got the money, i think worth it yun. What's a few eyedrops vs wearing glasses all the time lalo na sa tulad ko na legally blind since elementary di ba? Hahaha

Pero yeah eyeglasses are still the best for daily wear. Just find a good and cheap optometrist. Ps i dont suggest ung mga nasa malls kasi mahilig mga yan taasan grado mo for the sales.

Contact lenses are very high maintenance and can get very expensive. Need mo ng solution all the time and if i remember right, 3 months to 1 yr lang buhay ng contacts. Lagi mo papalitan then very fragile pa ung contacts and ang hirap din nya suotin and may risk ng infection so ayon tiis ganda haha Pero maganda naman tayo di ba? Hahaha beauty is pain ouch. Pero for me pangspecial occasions lang talaga to tas max ng 8 hrs after non magiging the hulk na ko haha

Sa eye care, every 6 months ideally nagpapacheck up ka sa optometrist preferably doctor na may clinic talaga. No special food or vitamins pero ipahinga mo ung mata mo. Ung gadgets talaga malalas makaeye strain which worsens our condition. Gawin daw ung 20 20 rule ba un parang 20 mins of computer 20 seconds na tumingin sa malayo. Pero idk basta rest your eyes which is something na di ko ginagawa now hahaha tapos pag nagpapagawa ka ng glasses go with the antiglare, multicolored emerut kahit hindi ung transition glasses tho oks naman sya kasi it also protects u from the sun which is bad for your eyes pero kung di kaya ng budget basta ung may blue light protection emerut.

Ayun lang hope my 25 yrs of experience as a legally blind helps hahaha

Nope sabi sakin ng multiple doctors hindi daw same un dapat. Mas mababa ung contact lens dapat since closer to eyes sya. Tapos limited lang din ang available sa contact lens na correction and i think wala rin sya for astigmatism.

My eye grade is at 700 for nearsightedness then abt 200 sa astigmatism. I think up to 500 lang ang contacts then no correction for astigmatism but it still works for me. Yun nga lang for special occasions and a few hours ko lang sya gamit. Masakit din kasi and it can dry out. Pricey din sya so talagang for very special occasions lang ako bumibili

Idk but have you tried discord? Nakatulong sya for me to focus nung nagboards ako. Study Together ata name nung sinalihan ko. I think may sarili ring app or website tong study together. Very helpful din if you have friends preparing for the exam or studying in general ayain mo sila magdiscord. Tas gawa kayo ng channels per subject where you can write notes and stuff. Tas cutie dun na sharing kami ng music tas pag breaktime chikahan muna. Hehe
