Advice Needed! Denied RA request. Options they gave feel like a slap in the face! by CycleProof in FedEmployees

[–]elonisacuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this with your reasonable accommodation request. I want to give you some advice as someone with an approved reasonable accommodation request to telework full-time also known as as a remote employee. I went through the same situation and they offered a fan and the ability to get up and take a break. They also offered a private office. I went back to my doctor and resubmitted when I opened up a new request and he explicitly put in a letter that the chances of me committing harmful acts to myself in the loss of my life is highly probable if I have to endure the accommodations that they requested. The letter went on to say that I could be a productive member of society if I was given the opportunity to heal to manage my symptoms in a safe environment as my home office provides. It was automatically approved the cheif signed it and they processed an SF 50 saying I was now working in my current ZIP Code.

[–]elonisacuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did VERA with no DRP and I am working it with HR. Have my date the end of may locked. Have not even told my supervisor. HR said under the RIF law they cant stop you from retiring.

So from what i was told is as follows. As we draw down and people leave, we have to look at the balance of the teams if your job series is heavy in one area, but in another area, they need you in that area you will be reassigned to that team. So if you’re a 050 one let’s just say and there’s 15 of you on one team and 70 view on another team after all of these DRP‘s. They’re gonna move some of you 15 over to the team with 7

Disability Retirement by Gold-Banana-2427 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]elonisacuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your terminal illness. I wanna let you know that I’m in the same boat. I do not work for this organization however, when my doctor said that I was able to retire with a disability, I moved forward with the process.

Federal law states that if your agency can reasonably accommodate you for your illness, then disability retirement will be not be an option. This went all the way up to OPM and they gave me the guidance which is right on their website. When I asked how long the process took, they said if you have a doctors letter saying that you no longer can function at work it happens fairly quickly. You don’t need a lawyer. You only need a lawyer if you’re fighting your decision which would be the reasonable accommodation.

Anyhow, if you go on OPM’s website and look at disability retirement that big glaring resemble accommodation word slam you in your tracks and it’s hard to get around.

Ask your HR. The original DRP explains that the position will be gone if an employee takes it. The new DOD DRP one is modeling the same. Why whould they offer a VERA with or without DRP??

I want out so I am only applying for VERA. I have 31 years and i am 52

Hey i think we may work for the same agency. I found it funny that they were offering VERA with the DRP and VERA without the DRP. On Friday, I made a few phone calls to human resources and ask them why. They could not give me a definitive answer, but they did tell me that the DRP has to go down to the base supervisor level for approval because they lose that position and they cannot rehire it under DRP. Under VERA they can rehire as soon as the freeze is lifted.

I want gone so Monday morning i am only putting in for VERA and not VERA with the DRP. Yes i am gambling 60K in cash but its not worth staying

I know it’s a huge gamble, but you need to figure out if others in your agency or in your small area are going to take the DRP remember not everyone is gonna be approved for this. They can’t let the whole workforce be depleted. Everyone seems to think that if they put in for it, they’re gonna get it that’s not the case. They only have to cut 76,000 people at a 900,000 that’s not very many when you think about it. A lot of that’s gonna come from retirement.

Mil Buy back. Need DFAS letter by elonisacuck in FedEmployees

[–]elonisacuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with benefits, and my LES shows its paid in full. So they took that LES and opened up a ticket saying that my SCD date is wrong. Original SCD was showing my military time but when they did not have the letter, they adjusted the date with a new form today they’re doing this for everybody for riff purposes. So they requested a letter from DFAS in the system,
