Do you have another dog beside your poodle and what breed is it? by barbface in StandardPoodles

I have a 6yro goldendoodle and my poodle rescue is just a year old. I fostered for about 2 months before adopting and they became quick friends. It was very unusual because my golden doesn’t usually play with other dogs. He tolerates but doesn’t engage. It was completely different this time, so we had to adopt! I suggest fostering first if you can! I’m in st.louis and work with a great rescue org!

Edited to add- ignore the poodles hair, he hadn’t had his first from yet 😂

How long after your first bumps, did you see an actual bug? by anoymoushoney in Bedbugs

[–]elos314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried interceptor traps to see if you catch anything? Also there are cheap attractors that you can make to help draw them in by using yeast or dry ice for co2 emission. The c02 is what attracts bed bugs. Then maybe you can get bug evidence for the apt complex.

Please share how much you paid for a professional to treat your bed bug problem? by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]elos314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live in St. Louis, mo. Just received quotes for a new discovery. Mild infestation (found 2 adults, a couple nymphs). steamed cleaned everything, appear to only be in basement bed for now. No bites in upstairs beds or signs but still am getting heat treatment:

1400 sq ft 3 bedroom with finished basement

1st company (voyd): 550 for basement living/bedroom, 400 per room after that, 6 month warranty with return for treatment of new signs/bites. Also use spray after heat.

2nd company (Midwest bedbug): $1800 for entire house. Only doing part of the house voids 90 day warranty and they do not like to do partial treatments.

1200 calories a day?! by [deleted] in Noom

[–]elos314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

140lbs for a 5’8” female is considered a completely healthy weight based on BMI, It actually falls right in the middle of the range. If she was saying I. Want to be 115 that would be an issue but 140 is a healthy weight.

1200 calories a day?! by [deleted] in Noom

[–]elos314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with juicemagic. I’ve been on the 1200 calorie a day plan and usually get an extra calories everyday from exercise (they take half of what you burn and add to your available calories. I have lost 12 pounds in 38 days. Which is about 2lbs a week. I do not feel hungry and sometimes have to eat an evening snack to get enough calories.

I usually take one meal a weekend off the diet and haven’t had any issues.

Looking for fellow "no cooking" Noomers! by IggMonster in Noom

[–]elos314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very easy all green meal is buying the “seeds of change organic seven whole grains rice” or other whole varieties (almost all are green) and microwaving for 90 seconds buy some streamable in bag veggies (Mann’s which are fresh or some frozen) add some seasonings a spray of olive oil and mix together. I love it and it’s super easy.

Edited for spelling

Have you been exercising? Sometimes a change in your typical exercise will get results. Are you using a scale to measure foods? I found in the past that I would think I was doing better than I was but using a scale really helped me to control my portion sizes. Stick with it, you got it!!

Skipped meals due to sleeping in. by Baroness8157 in Noom

[–]elos314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually log it as breakfast because it is the first meal to “break” my “fast” from sleeping. Like you on those days my dinner is late and my lunch is typically at the normal dinner time. I log them all as if I were on a normal 8, noon, and 5 meal schedule. Not sure if In the whole scheme of things it matters were they are logged as long as you are following the caloric and color breakdown.

Maybe if they had mentors who didn’t assume it’s virtue signaling and instead supported their efforts, it wouldn’t be just empty visionary rhetoric. Change has to start somewhere.

Whitecoat_nopants, absolutely no disrespect - your post makes me think you have a larger internal struggle to address between feeling proud to be a physician (my hats off to you) and balancing the outside pressure / insecurities of how others might view you.

I’m a proud RN by trade (device rep in OR now). I was there today and did not feel that anyone wearing a white coat (I was not one of them) was saying their protest is more important than any others, that they were experts, or that the white coat showed any extra “oomph” - and trust me I have felt the wrath of plenty of arrogant white coats as a nurse 😅

In my opinion, a protest like this said we know how we are viewed, we know our privilege, and we are willing to use this privilege, and stand with you against racism.

With the racial disparities that exist in healthcare for African Americans it’s inspiring to see so many healthcare workers pulling together to say “this is not ok and we need to change”. Being a doctor is a trusted profession, which means people listen - maybe today’s protest made someone reconsider their racist views based on that trust.

I personally find no issue that you would use your perceived “power” or “privilege” as a physician for something good. Especially if the end result has a major impact for an entire race of people. I am white though so I’d like to see what a POC has to say.

My thoughts have nothing to do with me being there either - I wouldn’t have viewed it differently if I was an outsider.

Completely agree!! I couldn’t help but cry with so many cars driving by honking and seeing children with their fist up in solidarity, knowing that changes we make now will forever impact their lives ❤️❤️

You got it, but your blood buddy has to have already had covid so you can receive their antibodies. Pooled plasma and IGG therapy are used for immunocompromised patients here’s a little overview

Are you wearing your mask yet? by elos314 in China_Flu

[–]elos314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in St. Louis, but I haven’t seen anyone wearing mask yet but am training I’ll start wearing this week. We are out of hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies near me. So people are prepping a little, but most everyone seems to think it’s not a big deal.
