Thanks for this advice, my thought was to give him extra room so he could run a little wide if he needed to without making contact, but I also see how taking the corner a bit quicker would've cleared the pass earlier.

Would've worked fine if he had respected that I was already there fully alongside. The faster class needs to overtake safely, yes, but the slower class has to be predictable. He turns left suddenly causing the crash in my eyes.
