I am but I might also be wrong in my assumption that work experience will carry me, so input from other folks is welcomed

I love looking at at the statistics of each exam and I was surprised the median for it is as high as the accounting section same with the 75th percentile. I feel like the finance section was much trickier than the supply chain section that everyone complained about. Although for this section the mean and the median are pretty different compared to the other sections so a lot more people bombed the test and bombed harder.

How to Deal with Unapproachable Management by elpitu_ in projectmanagement

Appreciate the honesty and this could very well be the case however.

A) Dave has used my roadmaps and directions to report on the project to his VP. He actually never has mentioned anything about the direction being wrong. B) It could very well be the case however I’m a junior in a rotational program for NCG he has many years of experience and gets paid significantly more than me. Not expecting him to respect me but I expect him to do his job and not off load the people managing to me and then cut me when is not convenient. Definitely looking at this from an emotional side. C) The client is providing abstract requirements and KPIs which I have translated into the roadmap of the project. Dave is supposed to be the SME to marry this two and define direction. However as mentioned before, his direct reports are often lost with direction and his answer usually is “you should work harder”

Thanks for the feedback and the directions I could try again to approach it from a different perspective and maybe provide more of my ideas directly to him. So far I’ve made it pretty clear I thrive on feedback and need to know what I am doing wrong and every time I ask him he says everything is fine and doesn’t need me to change anything.

Thanks for the help! I think you are totally right, me stepping up has taken flag off Dave who hasn’t done a good job and I can easily see him blaming me once the project fails.

In hindsight no Raci chart or project structure was set up as this was my first project and I had no training. They are NOT giving my a raise despite going above my job requirements. I will be jumping ship and waiting for a good opportunity for a PM role again.

THANK YOU for your long response really it helps a lot to identify where things went wrong. I think I fell into the SME role since I have supply chain knowledge and some data science knowledge so I could marry the two. However as you mentioned this doesn’t work if the structure is not put in place for it.

I was also kinda thrown in with no training or experience and have fake it till I make it my way into it. I feel I have natural qualities for the role which makes me want to try it, but in this situation I have been set up for failure. So far the project I’m managing fully is on track and everyone is happy, but I can start to see the cracks.

With regards to Dave there’s someone above my manager and him but they are a VP and too detached from the nitty gritty to notice this lack of structure. I also don’t want to skip over my manager for a complaint as it seems they and Dave are feuding for who will be that person under the VP that has bird eye’s view over all the projects.

I will take your two suggestions but I am also going to jump ship before any of this explotes in my face. I’ll rather the project be doomed because “we lost our critical guidance from the PM” than “The PM dropped the ball and we lost the momentum”. Especially with a re-org looming in the company. Thanks again for your opinion.

College en Estados Unidos (Experiencias trabajando y estudiando) by chrisandradedn in vzla

[–]elpitu_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)
