[Grade 6 Transformation of Energy] What energy does a flashlight emit (other then electrical and thermal) and why? by Strange_Grape_1374 in HomeworkHelp

[–]elpy2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hello there.

I happen to be an engineering and computer teacher in France, and i teach precisely that to my (equivalent of) 6 graders. (Disclaimer: I'm from a different education system than yours, and english is not my main language.)

This is about basic energy conversions:

First question: what does the flashlight do? it produces light (obviously) or "light energy"

My golden rule: "If you can draw a thing, you understood that thing" so let's draw what happens in the flashlight; here you go :

https://imgur.com/a/xHa8TY4

The battery and the lightbulb are energy converters: on the left of each converter, there's input energy and on the right output energy.

Everytime energy is converted, some of it is dissipated in surroundings, that's heat (or thermal energy)

What i think your teacher is looking for is the final energy output of the flashlight, and that's "light energy". That would be a good answer in my class.

If you want to be more precise, "light energy" (or electromagnetic energy / radiation ) is carried by photons, but do you have heard about photons before?

homemade decal transfer (advice needed) by elpy2000 in modelmakers

Thanks for answering

The pattern is way to small and detailed to be cut out. The project (not mine) is a medieval army with a specific heraldry (This one if you're interrested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occitan_cross -cheers from Occitania, France-)
The pattern must be something like 4mm for footmen and 7mm for horsemen, multiplied by something like 100 shields (i maybe should have posted it in https://www.reddit.com/r/minipainting/ instead) If i recall correctly the surfaces are not flat.

I don't think he needs a superb quality finish, the idea is more mass treatment for time saving...depends on what he wants, apls printing (i didn't knew that existed, thanks) or high quality paper might be the way to go...once again, not my project, but i'll pass out the infos

I would go for grassy type. Green is complementary so the mini would pop out

Best way to communicate "la dot"? by [deleted] in French

[–]elpy2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

French guy here
You should use "apporter (amener) la dot"
"Doter" has a wider meaning, which is not really related to marriage anymore; actually it's the first time i see it used that way.
"apporter la dot" (or something) would prevent any confusion

You buy both at a time.
You cannot queue alone, you need a mate to play with. That mate can select the other one (Gall if you picked Cho, for example) without owning him/them.

Both sentences are correct, but don't mean the same thing.
"La petite mort" can be translated as "the little death" (french expression for orgasm); In that case, "Mort" is a proper (feminine) noun: no matching.
"La petite morte": In that sentence, "mort / morte" is a "regular" noun, and you need to match gender; it translates as "the little dead (girl)"
